Notes is fantastic. It's quite versatile and allows for quite a variety of uses. I've tried Bear Notes, Evernote, Simple Notes and several others. I personally don't see that any of them offer much of anything over Notes. In fact, most of the Notes competitors will likely be out of business (Evernote) or drastically change their business model to stay afloat.
Apple Notes is a good app. It is fast, has good syncing and is available for iOS and MacOS.
However, a few months ago Apple changed the sort order of the search results. The result appear in a seemingly random order, often very old notes first. I have over 1300 notes so efficient searching is important to me. For this reason I recently switched to 1Writer on iOS and IA writer on MacOS. Both apps have great sort options and their search function is fast. I now have all my notes in text files and therefore I am less dependant on a single app.
But for people with fewer notes and/or less demanding search functionality Apple Notes is a solid app.
Notes still works on the Macbook air, mac mini and iPad, think the only thing now.
Notes also can turn text into all caps
but Notes needs a better slogan, especially for the new school year:
"Pass Notes, not gas!"
