Is now a good time to buy a MacBook Pro?

Should I take that as a compliment?

no no, there's just been a lot of newbies lately spaming up the forums, you know, spam?

Does Apple usually price their updated products in the same range as the older models? Specifically MB and MBP. This plays a huge part in my hair-pulling decision.

It's always a good time to buy, and Apple will always be updating their products. If you need it now, buy it, if you don't wait until an update.

I would wait. But thats just me. I always wait until the new products are announced and then order immediately. Now in your case it could happen that you are waiting now and in January nothing is announced - then you go ahead and buy one and in March the new MBPs are coming. This is like gambling, really. But again - I would wait.

I am pretty easy to please, so even if it is just a small processor upgrade I will be happy for the few months that it is top.

I happen to have a MBP, 2.2 and all I can say is that I have enjoyed it. I heard the advice of these people and honestly, I bought it when I needed it the most. A couple of months ago in the summer, my PC desktop was dying and I needed a new computer. I sold my trust 12 inch ibook and plunged into a MBP. I had a lot of regrets and flip flopped a lot. I do run Final Cut Studio and CS3 After Effects and Web Premium. Oh, what else can I say about this puppy besides that I have a 500 gig external via firewire 800 and two other drives via firewire 400. I do have a 24 inch monitor connected to it, and seriously this is the best set up I have ever had.

The low end is more than enough to run all of these applications smoothly, then again, I am a novice at production, I don't see a need for a Mac Pro because of portability. If you need it now, go ahead and buy it. After all, I used my MBP at two internships and they were impressed at the machine. Haha, it kind of gives you of a leg up. Cheers!

As slow as my current laptop is, its not on its last legs. I am going away on holiday at the end of next week and only getting back after Christmas which will take the edge off the wait.

I won't lie and say that I am not excited about ordering/getting my first Mac. I've been playing on a few over the last few days and I love them.

So MW is almost here, thought I would revive this thread and carry on the discussion. Only thing that has changed for me is that I may look at the ultraportable when it comes out (if it does).

So what are the rumors of whats coming out? Im a newbie here and just bought a refurb MBP and am thinking I should wait to open it just in case I want to get one of the new ones.

Open the box. Use the computer. Buy when the update of 2011 comes along. You'll be happy.

This thread did not need to be 'revived' skuzzy. It is not like there was anything important and the members here missed it. The answer to your question is the same now as it was in early December, wait till January 15 till you buy something. Not to be mean but everyone seems to have their "Should I buy it now" thread and instead of letting yours die like the rest of them, you brought it back to haunt MR members.

If you buy anything before next week you'd be foolish. Let's see what el jobso has up his sleeve and hopefully it's not just air!
