I will only buy a refurbished MBP for app dev to save a little money. I heard they will soon have new models out and can prolly drive down the price for older refurbished models?

Right now, the best deals to be had are on open-box Macbooks @ Best Buy as they are offering an additional 10% off in-store (w/ coupon) on them and any other open-box item.

Ok. Thanks for you guys's tip. I have never thought about the best buy option. But I might not be that lucky to run into a best buy store which happens to have an out of the box MBP. Also I won't consider retina due to its additional cost.

Their site lists open box items per store. That's how I found my MBA yesterday. Just missed the 10% coupon it appears.Call them - saves time. They (from my experience) will even hold the item for you.
10% coupon?? Gah! I bought an open box MBA 11" bare bones for cheap there yesterday! Guess I'll have to go back in and see if they'll give me the 10% after the fact.

Its been super inaccurate from my experience.
Coupon posted!
I can't even figure out where at the BB website they have a list of OTB items.

Go to the Best Buy website and go into Store Locator to view the individual pages of your local Best Buy Stores. There's an Open-Box section where you can see what they have available. If you see something you like, call the store to confirm availability and request to reserve it.
yup i too, picked an open box MBP 15 (Non-retina) for 1186 out the door at best buy.
and the beauty about this is, if i keep it in excellent condition 2 years later, i can ebay it for the same price! LOL
mid 2012, 2.3 ghz version
its a little sketchy buying a laptop off the discount rack. some people return it after opening it because they found dead pixels. I guess that doesnt bother everyone but i hate dead or stuck pixels. so i wont risk it.
Did you pay asking price or able to negotiate price? What was it before tax?
and there's where the apple's warranty comes in...and if ur lucky, apple will give u a new one, win win situation
----------
that price before tax was 1205$....with the 10% off, after tax and recycle fee....it knocked it down to 1186$.
yes, 50 miles radius of me, all the except 1 store had their price that low *i don't understand why* because all the other stores show 1488-1499$ for the same model.
i was lucky to be looking at the right time![]()
Thats awesome - because normally open box is 10% off their current BB retail price - which is a lot more than 1205
i know right, i am definitely happy
