Hello All!

Looking to buy a fully loaded MacBook pro 13". Is now a good time? Will they come out with a new refresh soon with faster CPUs and GPUs?

Thanks!

The 2018 refresh is speculated to bring substantial CPU improvements (and possibly, an increase from 2 to 4 cores). It's not certain, but fairly likely. So if CPU performance is an important factor, I would wait at this point. But how soon they'll refresh, we don't know. If you don't need a new machine right now, I'd say it's overall a good time to wait.

MacRumor's Buyer's guide has caution for the MBP and I agree, we're coming close to the time when apple may release a new MBP. That of course may be March/April or June, no one knows. If you can wait, you'll be better off imo

While I agree with you guys, this is getting fully paid for by my company so mind as well take it now while I can right :)

Waiting is a never ending game. If you need a new machine get one now. There are some good deals right now on MacBook Pro's. I was surfing the web the other day and found a 2017 nTB i5 / 16GB RAM / 256 SSD at a very reputable seller for $1449. This price was Space Gray only and was after using an additional $50 discount code. Also if outside of NY there is no sales tax if ordered from this retailer.

That's $250 off which is probably close to $275'ish off if you factor in the additional sales tax savings.

I won't post the discount code (don't know if that allowed) but it's easy to find and give another $50 off that price.

Well you did ask if its a good time to buy and the answer is mostly no if you can hold off. If its an immediate need, then its always a good time to buy, because you need it

Plus no one but Apple knows when they will refresh them. They may not do it until later this fall which could still be 10 months off assuming November. Will the next generation be improved? Sure but so will the one after that.

If you can score a 2017 @ a good price I don't really see the need to wait if you need or want something now.
