I just started watching raised by wolves on HBOmax and it’s the ATV shows that it’s HD only. For a brand new season of a newer show I am surprised that this is not in some type of 4K HDR or DV. I have rebooted the Apple TV and reinstalled the HBO max app. My AVR shows that it’s showing in 4K60 but as I said the info for the show says it’s in HD.

Is this possible in 2022 that show is an HD only? Could this be an HBO issue? Just generally confused. Thanks for any thoughts.

HBO Max is generally crap compared to most other streaming apps. Haven't looked yet at Season 2, will do so over the weekend, but wouldn't be surprised.

Thanks for the reply. And now Peacemaker and Station Eleven are being listed as HD, 5.1 also. But Godzilla versus Kong is listed as 4K Dolby Vision. So I guess this must be a problem with the HBOmax app.

Yeah. I think most stuff in HBO MAX save a few movies is HD. They didn’t have any 4K stuff before WW84

Seems to be the case per HBOMax’s Twitter account. Pretty sad that new shows like RBW and Station Eleven are not in 4K.

It’s HBO MAX most of their content is HD even though titles like this would benefit from the 4K HDR treatment; its a shame.

It isn't a problem with the app. HBO has very little 4k content. All shows you have mentioned are HD only on every device I own including various TVs and Roku.

Edit: I see you realize that. Yeah it does suck. Even some stuff that premiered in 4k is HD only now.

I wonder if they're trying to save bandwidth.

They don't have to deny us the 4K version to do that though. I know how people are. All they have to do is have a gear button, and put a "Play in 4K" in there. 90% of people don't care and think HD is good enough, and us enthusiasts will still be able to watch in 4K.
