Is S3 worth buying.

Got get a plan for my son and can get a S3 on a $35 plan v $25 just for the sim, so the phone is $240 over AUD, although i get a $100 credit and $150 to spend in accessories store. So its really free, He has a iPhone 5 so he will have the sim and will use the S3 as a spare and maybe as a sat nav in car if it works.
Are they any good, if not might go a bit more and get the note 3 i have been wanting.
I have never had a android phone.

Yeah you are probably right, how would a note 3 go as a sat nav in car, does it use data?

Depends on what he wants out of it, it will be fine for awhile but as it's been said it is almost 2 years and the s4 would be a better phone to buy.

He will keep using the iPhone 5 with new sim, i thought i might use the S3 as a back up or sat nav.

As others have said, I wouldn't get an S3 at this point in time.

S5 about to be announced. You can probably get same deal on galaxy s4 for the same price as S3 in 2-3 weeks.

I would only buy an S3 used. I wouldn't sign a contract for one or pay more than $300

You probably can find this phone used for $120 nowadays.
