It's only sad if it's also running Mac OS X, which you can't tell from the picture obviously. Microsoft doesn't make the hardware so they can use a Macbook for the picture if they want.

Nate

Isnt that also the picture where the black man is actually a photoshop edit?

Yeah that is what I saw it for somewhere else, but then I noticed the MacBook. :)

yes, but hp, dell, whoever, are not competitors to microsoft while apple is. so they're supporting a competitor by placing the computer in the scene. if i remember, this isn't the first time a macbook has been used in microsoft ads.

Really? You would have to be a monumental Mac geek to identify it as a Mac in the first place. And, as I said, chances are it's straight of a stock photo library - they didn't 'place' anything.

Microsoft in Photoshop Disaster row

I guess know your intended audience…

Although I'll admit the mismatched hand made me laugh.

Software giant Microsoft has apologised for editing a photo to change a black man's head to that of a white man.

The picture, showing employees sitting around a desk, appeared unaltered on the firm's US website.

But on the website of its Polish business unit the black man's head was replaced with a white face, although the colour of his hands were unchanged.

Microsoft said it had pulled the image and would be investigating who made the changes. It apologised for the gaffe.

They should be held accountable for crimes against photoshop too. That's a terrible job! And that white guy looks slightly scary.

Is the logo also gone off the back of the Dell monitor?

I think that model has an embossed Dell logo on the back above the mounting point.

I honestly thought this was going to be about that MacBook. Especially after all the high-profile advertising, "Laptop Hunters", etc.

So when I saw that picture, I smiled and nodded in recognition... until I read the article.

It could just be dark, and at a weird angle.

The head doesn't freak me out, and to be honest, neither does the mismatched hand colour. It's not different enough for me to notice at a glance.

Whoops! Nice move! People are gonna have a field day with this one.

(Goes to buy 'Ebony & Ivory' off iTunes)

I don't get what the point of the photoshop was. But whatever. Certainly looks like a poor job of photoshopping.

Photos like this, I always wonder what they're supposed to be looking at.

In this example, judging from their facial expressions, I think they're looking at a gigantic flying penis.

The lady is so distracted she hasn't noticed that her monitor isn't plugged into anything. Poor dear.
