I just got myself an 11” yesterday. I’m loving it. I tried out the 12.9 in the store and for me, it just felt too big. I will be using it on the move all the time so the minute size of the 11 is very much appreciated. I’ve been picking it up all the time, whereas I would have considered it twice every time with the larger one. The 12.9 is like a laptop and that’s not what I was looking for.
I do understand the draw of the larger size, though. Making notes by hand on it was much like an A4 size notepad whereas the 11 is like an A5. For drawings or mind mapping, an A4 is nice.

Interesting tidbit I realised just now also is that the new 11" screen ratio is 1.43:1, which is the official format of IMAX screens...

I thought it was because it was close to the square root of 2, which is the ratio used for DIN A2-A3-A4-A5... papers 🙂

Interesting...that puts the 11" at the same aspect ratio but slightly large than an A5 - should make PDF viewing a maximised experience, a page filling up the screen edge to edge...

Since I already have a 15 inch MBP, I went with the 11 inch iPad Pro model to fill that role between my iPhone and MBP. If I had the money, I would also get the 12.9 inch and use that for home use only and most likely desktop/extra monitor (luna display).
I only use my iPad for entertainment purposes though so use case is just from that standpoint. I don't use it to do any editing or things like that.
I think that the larger one would be a little bulky for my needs but kind of makes me want to create a need to get the bigger one too.

I think if Apple lifted the limitations of IOS for the iPads to use it more for things that notebooks are used for than the 12.9" iPP will be much more accepted. For doing productive work a bigger display is absolutely necessary. I am using my 12.9 the last 3 years and I wouldn't go back to anything smaller. Tried it with the 2018 iPad gen. 6 for some weeks but gave it away and return happily to my 12.9 again....

You need some time to adapt to the 12.9 size. Try it for some days before returning it. If you do that you will stay with it forever or you return it....

I've had my 11" iPP a few weeks now. The size is perfect for me. I had the first two 12.9s, and knew I wanted to downsize. I think the experience is still great, but I also have the portability I want as well.

Now 11 is perfect. I had the 12.9 3rd gen. Too much to carry around often. Seemed simply just heavy 🙁

What makes you say that? HDR? Because it’s not 4K?? Is YouTube dragging their feet with 1440p compatibility on iPad?

The 11inch is wonderful but if you need a bigger screen then that's the model to buy however, it also a bit less portable.

It’s Apple/Google not supporting the same codecs.
Not referring to HDR/4K, just that a higher resolution than 1080p should be available on what’s supposedly the best tablet the world’s ever seen.
Although, HDR should also be a given imo.
I started this thread out of just curiosity mostly. I actually like my 11” iPad Pro. Any larger is not necessary for me. The only thing I am changing is storage size though, more storage space is useful to me. I just do not look at my current iPad needing more screen size.

The 11” is pretty much perfect as far as chassis and aspect ratio are concerned, but oh my gosh how sweet would a Samsung Display manufacturered 120Hz AMOLED panel be! Battery life would surely take a major hit without a dark mode but it would still be the stuff of legends I think.

Honestly I really like the iPad panel.
It is tough to take every single awesome feature of a display and build it all in to one panel, for the that ultimate perfect display. You’ve just gotta compromise sometimes.
And I think for how accurate this display is, with how smooth 120Hz is, rounded corners and all, it’s just a really clean looking display with no distorted edges and a nice picture.
I like it! And I personally believe it is the best display I’ve ever owned.
Anyways, I have never been unhappy with how vivid this display can generate colors. And it is quite accurate too
I do agree with you, it’s a beautiful panel but I’d still take my 60 Hz XS Max display over the Pro’s. Good thing we can have both! Honestly, LCD is a better display technology than OLED on this type of a device.
