What are you kidding? Negligible? Having 500GB more of internal hard drive space is a godsend when doing heavy tasks like video editing and even playing games.

I personally do video editing and everything is done on the internal drive until I'm finished with the project. Trying to do heavy tasks with an external drive is cumbersome and slow.

Most professional editors keep their media on external drives. They want large external drives, the internal drives don't really matter.

What are you basing this on? I had both the lower and the top end models. The top end model is definitely and noticeably faster (not a whole bunch but still faster).

Maybe they meant negligible rather than unnoticeable. Which coincides with your "not a whole bunch" statement. I think I'll be getting the base end model and getting an external with firewire. Anyone know an easy way to swap the Hdd to an ssd?

TBH if you are gaming on an iMac, the best one is the 27in with the 6970m. This will last you a lot longer then any of the other models as far as gaming is concerned.

Just one answer

ALWAYS, get the most computer you can afford, don't nickel and dime yourself, your needs will always change, and down the road you will add RAM, remove a hard drive for a faster SSD, but as far as the engine, the processor goes, spend as much as you can, especially if you want to keep it awhile:cool:

I actually don't keep any piece of tech "for a while" my last imac lasted 9 months before I sold it... I think the longest I kept a Mac has been 22 months for my mbp.
