Other Is the 15 pro the closest size we will get to the reasonably sized iPhone X?

The X was about the biggest phone I could do. It looks like the 15 pro is pretty close to that size.
Any others in the same boat?

FYI… yes I have mini and SE but the mini might be a tad small for my aging eyes and the SE is getting outdated.

Given the caveats you mentioned, yes. But as someone who has...

-Upgraded every year since the 6
-Recently broke his 14 Pro
-Moved back to the 11 Pro while deciding what to do

...I can tell you that even if the actual numbers are close, the recent iPhones have *felt* much heavier/bigger. I'm encouraged that the early impressions are that the 15 Pro is lighter, but man, I really miss the X to 11 Pro feel. I've been really enjoying using this phone and I wish they'd move back to those dimensions and design language.
