Thinking of upgrading my 2012 iMac. Probably the most taxing thing I do, I have a Digi Cam that takes 4K video. Is the Air capable of doing this ok? Also ok to convert video's?

Thanks

Air handles 4k video editing fine. Not great, but doable. If you are getting a laptop for video editing specifically though, shell out the extra $200 and get the 13" Pro.

Any modern (2016 and later) MacBook can handle 4K video. The only difference is how long they will take to edit and process said videos.
The idea is if you rely on editing 4K as your income, go for MacBook Pro. Otherwise, you will find MacBook Air working just fine for editing 4K video.

No its certainly not for income, it's just normal standards videos from my iPhone Xr and Digi Cam 4K. Basic editing, nothing flash just cuts, bit slo-mo etc. Will just use iMovie as well.

I do want to organise my photo library though, it's large at 600Gb, but use the 2Tb iCloud.

Sounds like the MacBook Air is a solid pickup for you.
