I've thought about buying an Apple Watch since they first came out. There are some features that would be super convenient, or at least, seem like they would.

I work in maintenance for a very large apartment complex. I have an iPhone 7, but it is a bear to carry around and very annoying pulling out of my pocket every time the phone rings with a call. I have a rubberized Otter box case which protects the phone well, but pulls my entire pocket out every time which I can't stand.

It seems like a cellular equipped version of the AW would be great at work for quick calls communicating with my boss and managers. On the other hand, I work with a *lot* of dust. I'm constantly either doing drywall, setting tile (mortar) or grout. I'd hate to ruin this thing considering the price. I've even considered going back to an old-school 'dumb* phone for my next phone considering that.

My iPhone 7 is just the normal model (not +) but even still it is a bulky pain in the ass to have in my pocket all day.

Well of course if you don’t like to take out the phone every time then the Apple Watch is absolutely for you. No brainer.

None of your phone calls will be private. Loud speaker calls so everyone can hear you.

And yes a watch will get covered in dirt and stuff if that’s your environment. Check others watches to see how yours will look. Also check your wrist area now to gauge how it’ll be.

It will if he has AirPods.

such a hassle taking out the EarPods, putting them/one in, answering the call, finishing the call, taking them out, or you mean he wears one all the time? hmm in a dusty work environment, not so sure thats a good idea.

OP, if you’re considering purchasing the Apple Watch, you could also invest in a protective bumper that surrounds the Apple Watch casing and add a screen protector, that would help protect Apple Watch from any type of debris or scratches. They’re available on Amazon and are relatively cheap considering what they will accomplish and the bumpers are easily replaceable.

Here is an example of one:

Yep. Wearing one all the time. It has 4-5 hours battery. When the battery out, wipe it with wet towel and swap it with another one in the case. Easy peasy.
Set the phone to announce call with headphone. He will know who’s calling without looking. When he need to accept a call just double tap on AirPods. Easy peasy. No need to interact with iPhone at all.
And he will have all the Siri controls at fingertip. Playing music, checking appointments & weather, adding some reminders etc.
With Apple Watch LTE he might be able to NOT bring his phone to the office at all if he so choose. Just leaving it charging at home.

Take a real good inventory of your LTE coverage. I found that LTE is sorely lacking in my area, even though it is a major city with about 700,000 people. Coverage was especially bad inside buildings. Also, go to the edge of town and you are out of luck. Of course, your mileage will vary. I think most of us don't realize how poor LTE coverage is because we have phones that will use WiFi or fall back to 4G. The watch is LTE or nothing, and I found has a harder time pulling weak signal than the phone. In my opinion, LTE is one of the most disappointing features I have had in a device. It just does not work on the watch as intended for me.

Also, as far as AirPods go, I would suggest purchasing from a place with a generous return policy. If they fit your ears, they are amazing. If they don't, they are useless.
