Is the back of white ip4 still air plane glass or did apple go out and go cheap?

Title says it all, I just have feeling apple made it cheaper, it feels nothing liketje black iPhone 4 does, the black one feels so good in the hand as white one doesn't feel as good. I waited out the whole time for the white one and I'm disappointed it isn't like the black one. Any thoughts?

It feels a lot different too me, and air plane glass in the glass on back of the phone, it's a harder glass too scratch
 
Do you mean the gorilla glass? As that is just on the front of the iPhone, not the back.
 
My white iPhone 4 fell about 8 feet, from my deck to a wooden board under my hot tub. It fell right on the back glass, and I thought for sure it was donzo. But, when I picked it up - not a single scratch. You would never know I dropped it. When I had my black iPhone, it fell out of my coat at work onto tile flooring, about 2 feet, and it shattered, both the front and back. I have a feeling the white iPhone glass is better. Again, this is based purely on my experience, and I can not guarantee anything.

I'm starting too think the back isn't even glass, wouldn't you think any type of glass would break from that fall? I'm debating about going too a black iPhone 4 because of this, I'm not a fan of it, you'd think they would make it exactly the same beside the color

My understanding is that the white back is glas as well. However, you should go with what you like or think feels better. Just saying that the white iPhone has a glass back just like the iPhone black doesn't do justice if you think otherwise.

Yeah it's some type of airplane glass, I hate too get rid of it since I love how clean the white is, has anyone dropped it before and have it shadder?
 
According to Apple, they developed a new technology for the glass housing of the iPhone 4. It's called aluminosilicate glass, and is the sort of glass used in the windshields of high-speed trains and helicopters. I don't know if the back of the white model is any different or not.

They've been using it since the release of the iPhone 4 according to Apple ;)

And remember, nothing is invincible in this world. Everything has a weakness.
 
Yes, it's the exact same. I had my iPhone 4 white the day it came out. I forgot it was on my lap when I was getting out of my car, and it smacked the concrete. I had a crack from the bottom all the way to the camera. And a few small cracks coming from the larger crack. It's the exact same model, and the exact same phone. The only difference is the white color and a different color back due to the flash problems they were having.

Dude, that sucks. I know the glass is weak, but a buddy of mine works at the Apple Store and told me that the back of the iPhone 4 only costs you $29 to replace. They build the phone from the bottom up. A Genius Bar employee told me it was true when I was gonna buy the Speck pixelskin hd. He told me the front is $199 but the back is $29. So spending $30-50 dollars on a case doesn't make a lot of sense if the case isn't gonna protect the front. He recommended Otterbox Defender and other military grade cases.

do you have a picture of it cracked? did shatter like the black one does or just crack? i also feel that the white one feels lighter then the black one, so maybe apple got lighter stronger glass for it?

i see you have a white iphone 4, how does the back of it feel too you?
 
Maybe the color is messing with your other senses. Enjoy the phone, it's a great one that you will love for a while (unless you want a new one when the next one arrives).
 
i had the black one for att about the time the white iphone came out but it got stolen and i loved the phone too death i would protect it like it was my baby lol, it just felt so perfect you know? and then i switched too verizon so i didnt have too pay full price for another iphone, and now i dont have the same feeling with the white one because the glass doesnt feel the same. im not sure what too do, maybe it is the color idk
