Hello guys!

I'm in a very difficult situation right now and I need your help guys. I'm buying the mac studio but can't decide if I will “future proof” it.

What I will do with the Mac Studio are:
1. Video editing (4k)
2. Graphics design (Photoshop, Illustrator)
3. Programming

If not what should I upgrade?

"1. Video editing (4k)" - that's obviously not enough info to judge anything. There can be huge difference between codecs, multicam etc... so obviously also huge difference between demands on HW.

You'll be fine with the base. If you are really under budget constraints, you can get away with the 512 drive, but upgrading to 1TB is preferred. You don't need 64GB of RAM. Should last you at least 5 years.

I’m not a fan of the “future proof” concept. I don’t believe it’s possible.
Look at the current Mac Pro. Even the highest spec machine costing tens of thousands of dollars can’t keep up with the Mac Studio that was released a couple years later (and tens of thousands of dollars cheaper).

Just get the base model Mac Studio is my vote.

it's not like the current generation mac pro suddenly became a lump of useless stone once the m1 studios became available. those machines will be used until they're amortized and replaced.

Thank you all for the answer. i am moved. The reason why Im not sure if the base model is enough coz I did some research and it made me confused even more. ?

RAM
I usually open Adobe Photoshop, adobe illustrator and browser with more than 20 pages in my old macbook and it cant keep up anymore. I read that this take RAM so if we add the Adobe Priemere where I will be editing 4k videos then Im not sure if 32 gb of RAM is enough. I usually leave open softwares all the time and I also read that having 2 monitors can eat up the RAM too.

Opening multiple ADOBE Suite apps + browser enough in 32 gb of RAM?

GPU
Will it not lag if I edit videos in a 24 core GPU which the base model have?

STORAGE
Will it make difference if I will just use an external storage rather than having 1 tb of storage? I have more than 1 TB files so I thought if the purpose of SSD is just to store files then I think its better to invest in external storage which can be more than 1 TB

Pleasr share your thoughts guys.

I've currently got nearly 40GB RAM taken up between Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. My Mac has 56GB in total. I will happily take as much RAM as possible on my next machine.

I use Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat and am learning After Effects. I recently purchased the Mac Studio base model with upgrades to 64GB RAM and 2 TB storage. This replaces my 2019 MacBook Pro 16" Core i9 with 32GB RAM.

I would recommend getting the base model Studio. All the available processor upgrades will add minimal improvements at great expense for the type of work you're doing on it.

I would recommend you upgrade the RAM to 64GB. I have a 32GB M1Max computer at the office for comparison and the difference is noticeable when working with large Illustrator and Photoshop files - and I suspect the same will be true for After Effects, Premiere and any programming apps you use.

Let me be clear, 32GB of RAM is perfectly useable for what you need, but 64GB makes it even better. And remember, RAM is one thing you can't add externally later on. It's worth it to have more than you need now.

I would NOT recommend you get more storage than 1TB. I got a 2TB storage drive because I absolutely hate adding more cable clutter in my home office. It's literally worth the expense (for me) to not see or have to deal with more external devices. BUT, as others mention, you CAN add more storage any time you want, so there's little benefit to paying much more for internal storage.

That being said, I would get 1TB because the amount of space the OS itself and apps you install seems to increase every year. 512GB is awfully lean, in my opinion - but your mileage may vary.
