Recently, the Depth app on my Apple Watch 10 stopped working in a pool. I checked all the settings to make sure it engages when it senses water.

I made a Genius appointment. A diagnostic showed nothing wrong with the hardware sensors.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is it possible the diagnostic tool missed a broken water sensor?

Mine only activates when I dive ~4 ft into water depth, otherwise it doesn't activate.

Mine used to activate almost instantly when submerged but even if I swim down to 8 feet it doesn’t activate. Also, I forgot to mention that the Watch remains usable underwater. It doesn’t even lock the screen.

Do you manually turn on the water lock or just expect the watch to do it automatically? I turn it on when I get in the water.

With the proper settings, it should engage automatically. The key setting is on the Watch — Settings/General/Auto-Launch/Selected App. Choose Depth for the app and Immediately for when it triggers. The Apple Genius suggested erasing the Watch. I plan to upgrade to the 12 next month so I have no interest in wasting time on a reset.

Just to confirm, you have it enabled in Settings->Auto-Launch->When Submerged ?
Selected App should have a checkmark next to it and below it should show the Depth app. Click that and Depth should have the checkmark. Below that, it gives the option to launch immediately or at 3FT.

If it's set correctly, try toggling the settings and power cycle the watch afterwards.
