Is the FireWire port on ibooks Powered?

Just wondering this but are the firewire ports powered on the ibooks? I'm looking at an external hdd that can be powered from the firewire port. Or does my ibook need to use the USB for power?

If it's a 6 pin FW (the big socket) then I'm pretty sure they're powered.

I do see 6 contact pins on the firewire port on the ibook so I guess that means they are powered. 🙂

They're powered. All 6-pin FW ports are powered.
