I was curious about this. I noticed on the tech specs page on apple.com that you can connect a bluetooth apple keyboard to it. Use the screen cover and you've got our self a mini computer. Can ipad 1 connect to a bluetooth keyboard? Or can it only work on that dock that apple sold for like $100 +?

For the most part the ipad is great for browsing web sites (barring the need for adobe's flash), reading e-mails, watching you tube, listening to music, etc. With a bluetooth keyboard, you can add composing e-mails and writing simple reports as well.
Essentially, this is a great device to take with you on an eight hour flight to England. It's got enough juice to keep you entertained or productive, depending on how you like to spend your time.
The ipad is sort of like a moped. Sure it'll get you to where you want to go--the corner store, the park, etc--but if you want to drive it cross-country, you'll be bitching all the way. There's a lot of people who bitch about the ipad's inability to take them cross-country. As long you understand its limitations, you'll be fine.
