It's expensive, yeah.

Do I have one? Yeah. Just because I purchased one doesn't mean that the iPad isn't expensive. One can buy something where the product is still considered expensive.

To be honest, its not doing anything that I can't do on my iMac or iPhone. I'm thinking that once the competition markets a good, competitively priced tablet, it may drive Apple's pricing down...one would hope, at least.

From what I have seen Apple don't want to compete for the REAL Mass Market.

They enjoy being at the upper end and promoting their brand as the Quality brand you can own if you can afford the best.

Take the Mac Mini. Supposed to be the cheap Mac for the masses, they've actually put the price up on that.

I can see them holding the price where it is (or even raise it a bit actually) but putting in more hardware to keep the iPad as the best tablet you can buy.

That's the thing...each company is going to define what's best by their own standards. The masses tend to weed out what's truly best (for the masses), though.

Do I think that the iPad is the best? Kinda hard to tell since there isn't all that much out there to compete with the iPad at this point in time (vaporware isn' t included, of course).

Sony is even way worse. Look how high they are still keeping the dead format of psp and psp go prices up and their crappy laptops cost as much as iMacs.

I think ign is the International Goonie Network: a bunch of 80s throwbacks. Not sure about kotaku...

Kotaku is a chef's knife that you can only buy from a late night infomercial. It chops, it cuts and you can own it for two easy payments of 19.95 plus 10.99 shipping. But Wait!!! Order in the next 30 minutes and you get a crappy recipe book too. Additional shipping charges will apply.

See why the iPad is expensive? There is no easy payment plan.

An interesting comparison!

On the stock markets, it is widely thought that Apple will buy Sony outright with their $50bn+ war fund. Sony stock prices have been rising on the anticipation - were you aware of this when you wrote that response?

just curious

Not a chance.

Waste of money.

Money is better spend on those they are currently in dispute with over patents, like Nokia.

And this is old news.

What should Apple do with crappy TVs, stereos, Playstation and Playstation Portable?

Not to mention they would have to bother with warranties if they buy Sony.

In short, the money are better spend elsewhere.

Remember when Sony tried to charge over $2k for their ultra portable vail pc line? They discontinued it not longer after that instead of dropping the price. Look how much hardware you need and price to get move to run on the ps3. Why do these real gin gamers complain so much about apple lately but not Sony?
