I upgraded the Air to Air 2 and what a difference, the 2GB RAM makes it so much better, and that A9x is pretty fast, its nearly the same performance at multi-core tasks as the iPad Pro, about 85% the power.

I get a free upgrade in less than 12 months so if the Air 3 is out then I'll upgrade again.

Years ago I bought my wife the original iPad with what I think was the A4 operating system. The new iPad Pro looks just too dang big. She uses it for Facebook, emails, and online searches and shopping.

The new iPad Air 2 is running A9 so for the same size iPad, what would the improvements/advantages would she see?

Update - now I'm not sure if the Air 2 has a the A9 or not. I was just looking at them on Best Buy and the specs say A8, but the salesman there last week said 9. But since they're $100 off online, maybe it is an A8.
For the use you've outlined I _cannot_ be honest and suggest buying one.

My household shares, the original iPad, iPad 2, iPad 4, iPad Air, and Air 2.

My wife's usage patterns seem to be very similar to what you've outlined, she loves using an iPad, but she's not an enthusiast or tech person. Just get the job done and she's happy.

Time after time it's the iPad 2 she enjoys using. Odd but true.
