I’m interested in the iPhone 11 but I’m not sure if the screen quality is a downgrade from my iPhone 8 plus. The resolution ppi seems to be lower. How much of a difference will it make?

The screen is brighter and more colourful. I can see the difference in sharpness with text for example compared to my 7 plus. For most it's not an issue.

It won’t make a difference at all. Perfect upgrade for those who have 8plus and lower. Get it!

I dunno but... when i was playing with the 11 in the store and held my 8+ next to it, the 11s screen just look so much better. I was suprised. Much brighter, colorful and sharper.

An iPhone 7 screen looks better (though smaller) than a 6 Plus screen, so pixels per inch isn't everything

Both are "retina," so slight differences in resolution won't make any difference for most people (possibly a slight difference for those with particularly good vision). Beyond that, the 11 screen is both brighter and more colorful than the ones used during the 8 series. I doubt it would seem like a "downgrade" to anyone, but you could always return it if you think so.

I had a launch day 11 pro in MG, and was just thinking the size was just a bit too small. The 11 Pro MAX is just to big.

I had already bought my wife an 11, so I've been playing with it and ended up returning my 11 Pro and buying a Yellow iPhone 11. So far I'm really happy with it. I love the Yellow color. Just like having a banana phone. :)

yes one of the reasons I opted against the 11 pro was I liked the straight 11 size better. No doubt the next go around will change the size options by likely reducing the screen bevels.

Also to remember, while the density is dropping from 401 to 326 from the 8 plus to 11, other aspects of the display are better (colour, brightness, etc).

Not to mention, the current top of the line iPad Pro is also still 326ppi and we don’t seem to complain about them at all (or maybe some do lol).

I swapped my pro max for the 11 today. I traded my XS for the pro max then got the 11.

Granted my eyes are not the sharpest. But I don’t see a big difference. Screens to me look basically the same. I am enjoying the 11 much more. I couldn’t justify the price difference between the 11 and the pro max based on my usage.

Feels better without a case also. Much less slippery than the pro model. Which for me is important since I don’t use a case typically.

Don’t get hung up on specs. And stop side by side comparisons because you’re not going spend your life looking at two phones at the same time. The 11 screen is very good and if it’s the only screen you’re staring at it won’t matter what other screens look like.

There won't be much difference. While the 11 has a lower resolution, iOS' final render is at that resolution. It shares a PPI with the iPhone 4-8, and sharpness wasn't an issue on those models.
The iPhone 8+, as well as the 7+, 6s+, and 6+, all render 1242x2208 and then downscale it to 1080p, which will have a (slight) negative effect on display sharpness.

Yes but the Plus iPhones are still rendering at 1080p and have higher ppi. The XR and 11 have larger screens than the 4-8 models so lower pixel density is more obvious.
