I returned the XS for the XR. I can make a case that, for certain things, the XR LCD display is better. For movies, you will get better blacks with the OLED. Is what it is.

In everyday use, the difference is VERY small. You have to look to say, oh.. there it is.. the date looks a little more crisp on that icon on the XS/11P.

In my case, the color shift of the OLED was annoying for editing photos. I would edit the image with the phone lying flat and get everthing JUST how I wanted it.. then I would look at the image holding the phone in my hand at the ‘optimal’ viewing angle and think WTH happened to my edits. Yes, TT turned off. I could shift the phone and change the look and warmth of my image. This is WAY less of an issue with the LCD display.

An issue that irks me with the XR is the ‘stock’ text is smaller on the XR but I can adjust that now easily in iOS 13 (text size edit in Safari, not the Display text size).

IMO, the LCD display is 95% of the OLED in daily use and better for editing photos. It’s not as dark for videos.

My iPad doesn't have OLED and it never bothered me, even though i got an X.
So i would probably get used to it in a day and never notice again.

BUT: It always bugs me to know that there is something better out there. lol Which means i might be tempted to buy the more expensive one again.

My temptation is mainly around battery life. I went to the XR because it had the best battery life. Now tempted by 11PM for the ridiculous battery life.

One thing I have learned is that I never use a phone one-handed. Even with the 11P size iPhone I still hold with two hands when I type.. I am even doing this with swipe to type.

My local Apple Store (Jax) is super good to me. I have never given the Max a chance. I know they are 100% cool with me ‘testing’ it for 14 days. They even let me return my XS WELL out of 14 days for the XR.

The numbers and tech on paper would tell you "no" but in actual day to day use you would hardly notice the difference unless you looked at them side by side. I switched from the XS Max to the 11 because I needed extra storage to shoot and edit video. I hardly noticed the "bigger" bezels either. Just my 2 cents.
