The Retina Display isn't a real thing, it's just a smoke and mirrors marketing term. Which irks me cause everyone on these forums says "LOLZ RETINA DISPLAY IS TEH COOLEST!" It's just a normal screen that happens to have a high PPI count.
"A 32 GB phone is the same as a 4 GB phone that just happens to have 4 times as many GB!" Thank god we didn't fall for the "GB smoke and mirrors" either, huh?
OP is not smartest tool in the shed, retina display is just another apple term Steve job dishes out to gain $$ It's a fantastic display but it's just a made up name
In a way that's true. I just feel like throwing a brick at anyone who says "iTouch", "Retina Display", and calls the iPhone an "iPhone 2G". EDIT: math wait wut EDIT 2: Beat to it.
No, typing fail. I really meant to type "8 GB" since, you know, the 4GB iPhone was only in existence for a month or so. It really wouldn't be a good example. Blame that one on my fingers, not my brain. Stupid number pad. Doesn't change my argument, though. Saying "having more of something is the same as not having it!" doesn't make sense.
But the Retina Display is the coolest. It has the highest PPI of any phone on the market and it looks amazing. It sounds like you're being a hater just to be a hater which doesn't make sense because you own an iPhone 4. Would you ever go back to anything else after using this screen? I know I wouldn't.
Cool story bro. They could just say it has a higher resolution. It's not some revolutionary new screen technology, it's simply a marketing term designed to make it seem more special than it really is. Maybe you guys are up on the up, but if I have to read another "DO YOU THINK THE IPAD WILL GET THE RETINA DISPLAY?!" thread, it's brick time.
So you're just upset it has a name? Would you prefer they change 'iPhone' to 'Phone' and Macbook' to 'white laptop?' Do all the different names bother you, or just this one?
I don't care if it's a marketing term, the fact is it's the best screen I have ever seen. Hopefully Apple makes high DPI IPS screens for the rest of it's products.
My father could tell that there is double the storage, but he would have a hard time telling (or even caring) that the screen is twice as dense.
While this may be true, I would rather have 32GB over 16GB instead of 300 PPI over 150 PPI. Sure, apps may look better, but a higher resolution isn’t something that you can just tell somebody about. When you tell me I can have 32 gigs in my phone, I can visualize that and it means something to me.
Clearly u all mad. It's my opinion. Does the screen on my MBP have a name because it's 1920x1200? No. And yes it's mainly this name lol plus like I said in a previous post terms like iTouch and iPhone 2G. I'm gonna stop here because I got banned for arguing too much by the mod-nazis before.
I was thinking of making a really simple app with a few little buttons on it. Each one just plays a sound clip of me (or somebody else) screaming, Its an IPOD TOUCH, not an ITOUCH! and stuff like this.
Umm the LG phone has a higher DPI, 333 vs. 326 on the iPhone 4, but it doesn't have a higher resolution, 800x480 vs. 960x640 on the iPhone 4. The only reason it has a higher DPI is because the screen is much smaller than that on the the iPhone. PS: Apple couldn't lie about the iPhone having the highest resolution screen on a mobile phone, that's false advertising and it is a crime. But notice they didn't say it had the highest DPI because it doesn't.
