Nope, why to be mistake there are people which prefer using cheap phones. For my mother the 5c will be the best choice, she is really careless to her phones :D

I think the 5C rumors is fake too. Just like the iPhone maths. Reason? Because it's butt ugly, Apple doesn't make products that look like that. The Apple is always reflective. The quality of the plastic would be better. Apple won't leave us out to dry like that.

They're stirring the pot to lower our expectations, but I think there's a phone worthy of purchase coming out. Apple is advanced.

You and others with this thinking are wrong

I don't recall there being any actually part leaked of that iPhone Math rumor though. That's the difference. The cheaper iPhone is pretty much guaranteed at this point.

How could we know when it hasn't even been released? I'm sure apple has their reasons.

Agreed.

The more people that they can move onto iOS means more people will inevitably purchase something through iTunes or the App Store. Apple knows what they're doing.

Agreed. If this rumor is true, Apple is looking to get more people into their ecosystem which will drive up sales in iTunes.

Isn't only 4% of Apple's revenue from the iTunes store. That part of the ecosystem is support hardly the end goal.

The iPhone 5c is nothing other than a new casing for the iPhone 5. It will be the same guts but in a less expensive exterior body.

The iPhone 5 takes way too many steps to make and then sell at a "feature phone" price.

It won't be a mistake if it looks like this:

Looks nicer than the toy coloured shells I've seen to date. In this image the white rear shell almost looks silvery and the edge in the corners almost look like the existing chamfer from the iPhone 5.

If this is what the 5C looks like and it comes at a good price point off-contract, this will fly off the shelves. I'll definitely get one each for both of my kids, and if it's not too stripped of hardware and software, I may even get one for myself.

Will still buy the bigger screen iPhone 6 when it comes out though. :D

No way to know if its a mistake or not . It will appeal to some but not others. Its really an experiment and the results remain to be seen.

It wouldn't affect me one bit if people would be buying the iphone 5c instead of the premium iphone. That is as long as they keep offering the premium iphone for many years to come. And I am not to worried about that since they need a phone to compete with the flagships of nokia, htc and samsung.

How can Apple go wrong with funky colors and plastic if done right?

Have u guys seen a Samsung phone? That LOOKS and FEELS cheap (but it ain't).

If done right, Apple could have a very cool product for $500 bucks. With 2 year plan, 99 bucks. I' won't get it. I'm ready for the 5S gold. Nothing but the Vertu's quality Gold casing, man!

But I can buy the 5C for my gals and just gift them to my honies. Easy peasy

Is the iPhone 5c a mistake?

Hi I just wanted to ask if anyone thinks that the 5c will be a mistake for Apple?

I came across this article yesterday - http://pocketnow.com/2013/08/15/the-iphone-5c-is-a-mistake

I talked to someone who knows about marketing and business and they told me that Apple would be competing against itself, and that it would drive many people who used to buy the premium product, i.e. the iphone 5 to the lower priced phone that will still be quality because it's an Apple product.

Reaching out to other populace shouldn't be seen as a mistake. When iPad mini came out Apple ditched iPad 3 and offered 3 line of products instead, iPad mini, iPad 2 and iPad with retinal (iPad 4) Did u spot any mistake in that?
By the time iphone 5C we be debuted, Apple will still do the same thing ditching iPhone 5 and offering another 3 line of products, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S. It will be consumers' discretion to determine which way they want to go. The bigger picture is still the ecosystem.

What concerns me is the updates. Will the iPhone 5 be abandoned now that there is 5C to replace it?

Why release 5C at all? I liked Apple's model of just pushing down the previous flagship.
