As is well-known the iPhone 7 A1660 model number potentially has serious hardware problems. I ordered one online from Cricket and unfortunately the A1660 is the one I got. I am returning it today.

I just spoke to a brick and mortar store and they have the A1661 model number. I am a little unsure - is this also related to the A1660 model in some way? Are A1661 phones possibly ones that were also effected and repaired in the factory perhaps?

The question is - can I buy the A1661 model knowing that there is no chance of the network failure issues that plagued some A1660 models?

I have a similar thread about this but am starting a new one because I didn't want to bury this query in that thread.

A1660 is iPhone 7

A1661 is iPhone 7 Plus

Only the Qualcomm versions of the iPhone 7 are affected.

This is interesting. So, if you don't get the A1660 models you're getting much attenuated data speeds. And if you do get the A1660 models, then there is the risk of antenna failures.
Talk about being between a rock and a hard place!
