Quoting from William H. Macy's character, Sam Donovan, "You've got to learn to separate the stuff from the stuff".
Here's my take on the coolness of iPhone,
So when the first iphone came out, I knew noting about it, in till my local news reported about it, I knew of apple, just for computers, but any ways. I could not Afford the first iphone on AT&T, I think it was $500 or somthing like that on contract 2yrs. So I forgot about it, even when iPhone 3G came out I never even know that it was out lol. So a year or so later I end up getting my first iphone (the 3GS White) Again Not Knowing Within a Month The apple will be Releasing The iPhone 4, "back to my 3GS" so I feel in love with the iPhone & with every thing it could do, The OS. The SmoothNess, The Snappy Safari lol. Anyways I googled about the iPhone 4, I found out it does everything the 3GS does plus more so I just have to have it, not because, I thought it was cool, Because I thought the phone was beautiful, new Design all glass, so I got it on launch day, wanted white, But at the time Apple is having hard time making the white iPhone, so I got black i4. So at that think, I started to become more of an apple Fanatic, where if I had to have somthing I'd prefer it to be Apple, lol. Because apple made me feel cool. Like when some people own Louis Vuitton they feel rich, lol. So I own 4S & Now iPhone 5 haha & I will own the Next iPhone Too,
Sometimes People Say, Oh you rich yeah, because u always own the newest iphone, I say no Because I working minimum payment job, I just SAVE UP, I tell them key word SAVE lol,
Blah blah end of my story.
Many would say it has lost its 'cool' status years ago. But I personally don't care about whether it is cool or not.
I think it lost it's cool status once the price dropped from 599 to 399, then to 199. Then again, with the amount of food stamp recipients you see at the likes of LV and Gucci nowadays, they were going to get it eventually.
As far as "the phone to own:" it's quickly losing that status. Just from what I've noticed, more and more people are leaving iPhone for the likes of galaxy and other higher end androids.
It lost its "cool" or exclusive status that you're speaking of once it became available outside of AT&T. When it was AT&T exclusive, everyone who had one HAD to be on AT&T and HAD to be paying over $100 per month for their service. Now that it's on all the other carriers, everyone can have one and it seems like everyone does. Doesn't bother me since I buy iPhones because I feel they're the best devices, not to look "cool".
I buy what I like, and I use to care what people think and here is why. Some people who were Apple fans gave the perception they were better, Apple was the best, and all others are junk. I had my Macbook for months before anyone knew, and same with my iPhone.
Now I see Microsoft and Android fanboys are the same way. If you don't like Apple, I don't care. Now if you don't like Apple because you don't know how to work a Mac, to me that's just stupid. I know a few people like this sadly, and yet refuse to learn it, because it's easier to hate what you don't understand.
When people ask me if they should get an iPhone, I tell them get what they like. I don't push anything on them based on what I have. I tell them I am happy with my iPhone overall, but tell them what I don't like about it also. If they or anyone buys anything just because "it's cool" they are a moron and need to get their priorities straightened out.
In other words, they need to have the same priorities as you. If they don't, they're morons?
I didn't say that, but if people put a phone or any material things out there before loved ones and life, maybe they are a moron.
Look at all these people who cry they have no money but yet have to have the "coolest" thing out there and buy it when they don't have the money for it.
