I don't use a case and I don't care about the camera bump. My iPhone isn't some beautiful piece of art. It's a smartphone and it serves the purpose I need it to serve.

It doesn't really matter functionally, but it's un-Apple to me. It just doesn't match up with the design ethos, by which they've always operated. Seems to me like it could have been balanced out and made flush.

i would rather have a flush camera but it's not deal breaker because all flagship phones have a hump.

At first i hated it.but now no problem.so i don't care if it is coming in iPhone 7 also
Hmmm…is that a new Apple marketing scheme? Get everyone used to fugly so they don't care, then introduce some new good looking phone and it sells more than ever?

:D

A common argument.

Usually those making this argument are only buying iPhones because of iOS. If you could get iOS to run on any old Android it seems it wouldn't matter. So, it's not about the aesthetics of the phone for those making this argument. It's about iOS.

After all, if "it's a smartphone and it serves the purpose I need it to serve" then there would be no problem with an Android or Windows smartphone.

But usually those making this argument DO have a problem with an Android or Windows phone.

So…your argument cannot be that it's a smartphone and serves your purpose. You prefer iOS. If you didn't one way or the other you'd have an Android or Windows phone because those also are smartphones that serve a purpose and they are far cheaper than an iPhone.

I have used Android phones in the past. My biggest gripe, at the time, was the poor battery life and camera performance. They seem to be pretty close nowadays and my next phone may not be an iPhone.

If Apple continues down a path I do not like I may be off to WinMo. Had that before iPhone and did pretty well with it. Having used more than one Android device I am not impressed. They may be better now, but the UI still looks half-finished.

iOS is one part of the reason I stick with iPhone (just not the only reason for me).

Never became a deal breaker, but if I was able to choose I'd make it thicker, fill the space with battery, and make the camera flush. Apparently the 7 will be almost as bad, or maybe even worse, than some android bumps we have seen in the past. Oh the irony of that happens.

I've used windows phone and find it to be rather nice. My gripe always was the limited App Store presence. This may have changed as Microsoft has opened the door to developing for essentially all of their OS platforms at once allowing easy "porting", but I haven't looked too far into it in at least two years.

Right. This is the standard argument for those who use cases. It never deviates though. A case will be slapped on by those who use cases whether the phone is ugly or beautiful.

Slap a case on it and the fugliness goes away. I don't use cases so this is not an option I will choose. I'd much rather Apple fix the fugliness. But for those who do use cases, when the phone is considered beautiful a case will be slapped on it and the beautiful will also go away.

Either way it becomes not about the aesthetics of the phone but about the customer's perception of the case they choose to use.
I would prefer not to use a case. But the 6 and up phones are a bit slippery.

Yeah, two years ago I don't think they had much going. Hopefully, if Apple and Google don't kill it off it's managed to blossom.

I hear you. For this reason I am as careful as I can possibly make myself.

I really like stock Android. I can't handle the garbage that most manufacturers and carriers add. Motorola and the nexus devices work well enough for me. The HTC 10 looks very nice, and if purchased unlocked, it won't have any of the AT&T/Verizon/Sprint junk pre-installed.

Anyway, in the spirit of not to derailing the thread too much...I don't care about the camera bump. It's on the back of the phone; I will rarely see it and so far it hasn't caused any kind of a problem during use.

This seems like a ridiculous idea to not like a phone. if the bump means a better camera or a camera that works? I'll take it.
I can respect your opinion. I largely feel this way about cars. One of them is a Prius because of our 40 minute commute so it's great of fuel economy. I'm constantly told by people they'd love the economy but the car is too ugly for them. To each their own, really. I don't think the car is a looker myself but it gets us from A to B and, particularly when fuel prices were nearly double what they are now, saves us a ton of money. In my eyes, If it's reasonable for a person to choose a automobile based heavily on what it looks like it's reasonable to choose a phone based heavily in what it looks like too.

For the record…I think the Prius is a great looking car. :D

Looks are pretty much a defining factor for me with any purchase, but especially with phones or tech in general. If it hadn't been for some extenuating circumstances last year that fugly camera bump and antenna lines would have kept me on my iPhone 5 until the 7 came out. I've skipped iPhone models on purpose before just over color alone.

I've seen the 6S and 6S plus in a case and the protruding camera lens becomes a non-issue. Only thing stopping me from buying either one isn't the camera lens but the prices! Not saying the phones are not worth the premium but I buy phones outright and I'm a little rough with them so I can't imagine putting down 800 bucks on a smartphone when I can get things done for half the cost. I'd love to have a 6S though!
