It's ****, innit?

And they can't blame Scott Forestall for it.

They need to fix it.

The MBP trackpads are loads better than other manufacturers. I could never figure out how to use others but when I bought my MB it worked so much better. Not sure if it's just the shape/size of it, the fact there's not little edges that are for scrolling, multi-touch, gestures, or a combination of it all. My MBP with all the full gestures made it even better.

As for the Magic Mouse, I had one for a while earlier this year. This was after using Apple's trackpads since 2006. It's not ergonomic but you basically have your hand flat. It's not meant to have your hand cradle it. But the gestures on it are awesome and it makes for a lot more productive environment. I got it out when I was writing performance appraisals for work. It made switching between spaces or whatever it's called now very nice.

I love my Magic Mouse - I got used to it pretty quickly and use it while video editing - I guess you need to try it yourself to see if its comfortable for you, but personally I really like mine!

I love it for editing too. Also, I love the lack of physical buttons that would be susceptible to breaking (i.e. the scroll ball on my Magic Mouse that broke after the first week).

Thanks again everyone, it seems as though opinions are very mixed. It also seems, those who persevere seem to be converted. I guess I'll have to take a punt. I have a gaming mouse that I love but it's wired and is a pain in the *** to pack up and move about.

Thanks again, I'll just buy one and see what I think I guess.

I took a shower once and ruined it because I was scrubbing it all over myself under the tap.

Actually, it's not bad, but it lacks the ability that better "mice" have. I stopped using mice back in the late 90s and found 5-button thumb balls the be completely superior for gaming, video production, online surfing, art, etc.

If you haven't found the worth of something with 5 buttons, then the Magic Mouse is fantastic. It is the best and most-responsive mouse I ever used. The ones I have are merely closet stuffers until my favored devices break.

Never got used to the ergonomics of the Magic Mouse but I wanted a bluetooth mouse so I now use a 2013 Razor Orochi. Works great albeit eats batteries and sleeps too quickly.

the magic mouse has a very low profile. if you have large hands it can be a bit uncomfortable. my hand cramped up at first but it got better over time. I prefer using the magic trackpad. its more natural for gestures too.

Wasn't aware the Magic Mouse had been updated since its release?! I got one not long after they came out and while it was very nice and a great use with the touch gestures it was just the shoddy build quality and the fact that it caused a battery leak (more than likely an anomaly but still) that put me off.

Yeah same problem here.

Love Magic Mouse. Just dont let it fall of your desk as most people do. Also, the gestures can be configured to use 1, 2, 3 or 4 fingers, just like the trackpad. This is done using a third party app. Bettertouchtool is a popular one, but there are others too.

Regarding keyboard, remember that you dont have to go Mac specific, any "windows" keyboard will also work with your mac, and all keys/hotkeys are configurable. I think this one matches perfectly with a Mac:

I just got one from my brother and the bluetooth connection keeps dropping. Batteries are fresh so I'm not sure what the issue is? I'm using it with an rMBP.

I had the magic mouse and it's neat that you can do gestures and what not on it. I also find it cool i can scroll by flicking my finger. In the end though, I ended up putting it to the side because I couldn't get used to the shape of the mouse and having to swap out batteries all the time. I ended up getting a wired rat 7 mmorpg mouse and it's not too shabby.

The solar keyboard by logitech is nice. I had a wireless apple keyboard, the smaller one but I ended up putting it to the side too. I got a mechanical keyboard. I had a razer black widow, but then I got the daskeyboard for mac specific. It's a great keyboard with a clicky and tactile feel to them.
