Hey there, to start off with, the reason I'm wanting to buy a macbook is for my course in multimedia computing coming up for university. The Macbook pro base model seems to be a ideal solution for me but I have some issues I wanted to come to guys for.

Firstly, I understand this model of macbooks have different upgradabilities, I have no desire to upgrade the ram because you can't... But I'm finding it hard to find a answer to if the SSD within the base model Macbook pro 2017 128Gb is upgradable, as I know the touch bar addition isn't upgradable (soldered).

If the case is I can upgrade the base model SSD, I'm 100% going for that model. If not, the option will have to be the 256Gb SSD.

Help is appreciated, and I'm sure there are some wanting to know the same thing.

As far as I know, the SSD should be replaceable in the non-TB models. The problem is, that there isn't any 3rd party manufacturers so only way to upgrade is to buy a refurbished OEM SSD.

No, all the MacBook Pros from 2016 on have soldered SSDs. There are no upgradable parts on MacBook Pros anymore.

EDIT: I stand corrected, apparently you can upgrade the non-Touchbar model of the MBP, I’m sorry for giving an incorrect answer

Incorrect, as others have noted. The non-TB models DO have removable SSDs, but that does not mean it'll be easy to source the part.

My apologies, I stand corrected. I was under the assumption that the made them all soldered in. Doesn’t make since to me why they wouldn’t do that with both versions.
