We bought two MBP's recently, a 13" and a 15".

The idea was that my daughter could choose which on she wanted for school and I would take the other one for myself.

She chose the 13" as it is the most portable.

I think eyestrain is something you'd experience even with a 17", to some extent.

Dell 2209WA

check it out. it's e-ips for around $200

For those of you who are using your Macbook Pros with an external monitor, are you using an Apple display or do cheaper off-brand monitors perform okay?

I'm planning to buy a 13" Macbook Pro later this year and I'm currently trying to decide whether to stick with my current 17" LG Flatron, upgrade it, or do away with the external monitor altogether. From reading this thread my gut feeling is that keeping the Flatron in service is the best option as it's quite a nice display but I would be interested in what others think.

I used the 15" MBP for about 2 years while I was in school. Although it was portable; I felt that it took up a lot of desk space when working on a cramped desk with textbooks, papers and other things scattered around while I was studying. A 13" MBP with a desktop monitor is what I would do.

I prefer the 15". I went from an Air to a MBP 15", and while I miss the thinness of the Air, I do not miss the 13" screen. The extra two inches makes a huge difference and it is not much difference between that and the 13".

My 13" MBP is amazing.

I hooked it up to a 24" BenQ when I'm at home, and it's nice a small when I'm out/on campus

The 13 in MBP works fine for me. It's just that sometimes its hard to fit everything on the screen at one time, Firefox, Chat, Video chat. So it will all just depend on what programs you use.

I love my 13 incher. I used a 15" for the last few years and have no issues. Expose is your friend. I don't even use Spaces but the friends I have who do swear by it.

I think the best thing to do is to go and spend a while in an Apple store and play around with the computer and see if you like it. 5 minutes won't really show you anything, you need to use it for a while.
