From this review at the WSJ:

"Apple’s sport band isn’t the most stylish, but it is the one you want for working out. With the looser steel Milanese Loop band, the watch struggled to lock in on my heart rate."

And then later:

"When not working out, I immediately changed into the Milanese Loop. "
Based on the overall level of clueless she demonstrated in that review, and my own try-out of the mesh bracelet, I suspect she may have just not pulled the bracelet tight enough.

If you wear it floppy, it will flop. When I tightened it up, it seemed to stay tight. I couldn't wiggle it around for a whole workout, but over a minute or so it didn't loosen at all.

So is the Milanese Loop an everyday band, or is it more of a band for special occasions? Really what I'm asking is, would it hold up well to the rigors of everyday use?

No they designed it to fall apart in a week..... ffs what do you think?

You think a band with a srp of $150 isn't going to be durable? Come on now.

That's the problem with "relying" on a reviewers word....most of them are totally idiotic.

Thought the Milanese Loop was too feminine so didn't try one on. Tried on the link but honestly didn't think much of it. I am a backer of click on kickstarter so Im sure Ill find a band that I dig over the sports band.

I think most of the watch bands are pretty good every day bands. The sports bands work very very well for all but formal (to me at least).

The Milanese Loop you'll need to try on. I went to my try on appointment today convinced I was going to love the Milanese loop, and ended up canceling my order for it as an extra band and replacing it for the Link band. Your mileage may vary though.

I think the best advice for everyone is to try them on before deciding. Almost all of the bands differed from my expectations when I saw them in person and tried them on. It's clear that personal preference is a big issue with the watch and bands.

I personally wouldn't get the aluminum watch after seeing it, unless I absolutely wanted to minimize weight. But the stainless steel seemed "light enough", and I found I like the appearance of the SS far better than the aluminum.

I wasn't able to come to a decision anyway, because I think I'll like the black link bracelet. But I only saw it under glass with harsh lighting. There were none to try on. I won't order it without trying it on.

I liked the silver link bracelet, but not as much as I thought I would. I liked the Milanese loop more than I thought I would. I think I'd like a black mesh even better, but they aren't offering one. :(

I think the Milanese would be fine for an everyday band; my only doubt it that is might be just a little too bright and sparkly. I don't wear loud stuff, which is why I think I'll like black better than silver.

My only real dislike was the Modern Buckle. The buckle is just to big and too bold, compared to the watch, for my taste.

Oh, and some of the sport band colors turn my stomach. That was one opinion that didn't change when I saw them in person.

I found it to be really comfortable so in that regard it certainly could be an everyday band. Personally though I thought it looked a little too fancy for my style. I like the sport band for everyday use.

I plan to try out tomorrow and I'm very interested in that band as an everyday when I'm not working out band. It just looks so nice !

I haven't heard very many reports of the magnet strength, has anyone who has tried on the Milanese loop notice if it hold pretty strong? I'm assuming that since no one complains about it that it's not an issue.

That's the first thing I tried to figure out once I had it on my wrist. It seems pretty strong to me. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

PLenty of people where this type of band everyday. It may not look too great with crappy gym shorts and a tshirt but it really is an every day watch

I have worn a Milanese band for years on an Omega dive watch and it is the most durable band I have ever worn and does not show scratches like an oyster band or the like. I am wearing my Milanese Loop every day! For everything!

I love mine, I wear it when I'm at the office, at the bar or in the backyard doing yard work, it breathes really well which is nice and its very very comfortable. And unlike the WSJ review, I haven't had any issues with the heart rate sensor. I wore it to a physical I had last week and just cause I was curious, I checked my heart rate while the doctor was checking it using a finger clamp and the two results were within 3 BPM. At first when I was buying the watch, I was going to go ahead and get a sports band to go with it but after 2 weeks with mine, I'm holding off, the ML seems to just work well everywhere for me.

I love mine and am wearing it as my daily band. I did order a sport band, but primarily for use camping and during the summer when I'm doing more outside activities and want something a little sportier.

Apple pretty sharp. They want us to own multiple bands...

Well, I don't know how sharp they are ... normally you'd own a watch for sports, and one for work/dress. This way, Apple gets less revenue because you're not buying two watches, just one watch with an additional band. Sharp would have been designing the Sports watch and Stainless slightly differently so that they required different watch bands -- after all you can't wear any other band with the Sport and have it match the case anyway. It will be interesting to see if Apple or any third party will offer a dressier band for the Sport with the aluminum lugs.

I wear it every day. Work, workouts, shower.

No issues - still looks like it did day 1.

No issues with HR sensor when running either.

ML - the one band to rule them all.

Shower in it.

Work out in it*

Row in it.

Sleep with it on.

*I think you can see it in this pic. 405#
(yes, with straps. BUT - never a belt!)

I live in the country and I have worn my Milanese band every day since the first Apple Watch release day. I've been digging, pounding fence posts, making stream crossings, gardening, and many other outside, down and dirty tasks. So far it's held up fine.

If it gets dirty enough, I plan to just slide it off the watch and run it through my dishwasher, which does a great job on stainless steel pans.

It's infinitely adjustable and the most comfortable band I have ever worn. I can change the fit anytime I want to for different purposes.

The magnetic clasp has yet to slip even during heavy tasks. The band feels more like fabric than metal to me. It makes me think of the mythical Mithril chain mail that Bilbo and Frodo wore in the Tolkein books. I think its tech matches the magic of the Apple Watch.

One of its best features is that it folds up under the watch and makes a nice charging stand. I had ordered a charging stand, but after I got the watch, I decided I didn't need one.

I've read posts about it seeming not macho enough, even feminine. I find this off the mark. Nerdy maybe, but that seems right for an Apple Watch. If anything, it's an incredibly gender neutral design and can work for all occasions.

I've definitely not felt like it was feminine in any way and it can get tight enough to leave imprints in my skin. I consider that pretty snug. Magnet is really strong and doesn't appear to budge unless you pry it up. The corners of the band can be a bit uncomfortable if it digs into your skin but it actually conforms to your wrist so well that it is normally a nonissue. I wear it so it slides an inch or so on its own but it's never pulled hair at all. Well unless it's under the magnet. The magnet can grab the band through a hoodie sleeve...

looking good

how long have you been lifting?

Thanks. I've been at it since maybe 2008. I got really serious about it towards the end of 2012. I have Crohn's disease and decided to put some weight on, which can be challenging with complications from it. Since then I've put on almost 50 pounds.

I mostly do gym jones programming. A little Olympic lifting and some very occasional CrossFit. I love breathing hard and lifting heavy stuff. You?

I've been wearing my Milanese loop since release day. I've had no issues with it at all. I can wear it loose or tight enough to pretty much cut off blood supply! Nothing shifts that magnet. In reality, I wear it loose enough to get a finger under the band and still get very accurate HR readings.

As far as cleaning it goes, so far a quick rinse under the tap has been enough. I've had similar bands in the past and I found an old toothbrush to be the best tool to use for cleaning them. You can also use a dab of toothpaste - the mild abrasive is a good cleaner.

I certainly consider it an all-purpose band. It seems to look ok when I'm dressed up or dressed down. I'm not planning on getting a second band.

I'm wearing mine all the time (well, except for showers and to sleep). I do find I am having to pull the band tighter from time to time but suspect it is more because I am a fidget than because I am finding the strap feels loose. I am certainly not worried about the watch falling off, or anything like that. The magnet bit doesn't fit through the loop that attaches to the watch so it would still have to slip over your hand, if it came undone. Mine has never come undone, the magnet is strong.

I was getting pulled arm hair with the link band but no issues at all with the Milanese Loop. It is extremely comfortable.

Tip for cleaning metal and mesh type bands:

rinse with water, use a soft toothbrush with a small small bit of paste then rinse and towel dry. This will get all of the dead skin out and dirt and not scratch the band. I have used this for my Wittnauer link watch band and my hubby's mesh Skagen band.
