Thanks everyone, I think I'm going to go ahead and get one for her. Best Buy still has them for $100 off so that is great news.

You made a great choice. It's a great deal, considering it's still so new. I'm loving mine!

My Air 2 never needs me to clear out open apps like my 6+. I don't think the extra core is the reason my Air 2 is super smooth unlike our phones.
Clearing out open apps is a placebo and accomplishes nothing.

Thanks. I was going to get her the 64gb model, but it was sold out online in space gray. I went ahead and got her the 128gb version.

I ALMOST thought about getting her the 16gb since the price difference between the two is pretty step at $200, but I knew that would become a serious issue storage wise. 10gb out of the box is not going to cut it.

That placebo must be doing something right because my 6 plus def stops lagging once I close the open apps in the background. There is a clear difference in responsiveness before and after.

The only issue that I've had with mine is when it was running 9.1. It got a bot laggy but, once I updated to 9.2 that went away and all is good in the kingdom once again! :)

BTW, I had the Air 2 before I got the Mini 4 and I like the Mini 4 better.

So the funny thing is I have her iPad Mini 4 arriving some time today by mail. This morning I checked and Best Buy had a 64gb LTE model available in store so I went and picked it up.

It was only $30 more than the 128gb wifi model which imo seems like the better deal. Something told me to get it and return the 128gb wifi model once it arrives. I have a feeling she's going to use this tablet a lot outside of the home and having to hotspot all the time might become annoying.

Hey congrats on getting the LTE version. When my husband asked me what I would want if he were to upgrade my mini, I asked my husband for one with no cellular to be frugal. But he ended up getting LTE anyway just in case, and I'm glad. I've had it on my iPads before and it's a nice convenience. I don't plan on activating my account anytime soon, but I will when we start traveling in the spring.

I'm a storage hog when it comes to my iPhone but even I don't use 64 GB on my mini, so I imagine your wife will do fine with 64GB.

I wouldn't even have upgraded my mini but I finally have a full color gamut. I'm surprised how much of a difference it makes! Everything that I had though was orange is actually red! I hope to be able to keep this iPad mini for at least two years and would be thrilled to have it last me even longer. I don't actually like updating iPads too frequently. I loved my retina mini but didn't like the color gamut issue. Now I have perfection!

I am still torn between switching to the Mini 4 & rMB or the iPad Pro. I do like the size of the Mini 4 for typing and replying to emails/texts, but one thing is really getting me. The browser experience on the Mini 4 seems to be worse than on the IPP. One great example of this is the site www.hearthpwn.com . Their front page posts tend to have YouTube videos embedded, and even though I don't play the videos, it causes the site to be incredibly non-responsive and stuttery/laggy when I attempt to scroll. This also happens on basically any site that has any embedded video on it (again, whether or not I click the video).

Anyone else notice this behavior? It doesn't happen on the IPP.

I just tried that site on my Mini 4 (using Chrome) and it loaded quite well. I was able to smoothly navigate/scroll pretty much immediately.

The key is Safari though. I use 2 Macs as well as an iPhone with my iPads, and I want to be able to do the Safari cloud sync, as well as the keychain. Chrome won't do that.

I've been thinking of getting the iPad Mini 4 but was worried about frame rate and thought it would get worse with iOS 10. I was using a Nexus 7 2013 and that was good until it broke. Now I'm using the original iPad on iOS 5.1.1 and it sure stutters alright. Just don't know when to update or what to get right now.

I use Feedly, Tapatalk, Tweetbot and Safari and surprisingly this iPad holds up 'okay'. Now mind you it sure hangs or crashes when you do too much or load a heavy website.

I'm interested to see if Apple puts in an A9x into the Air 3, gives it more than 2gb of memory with Pencil support . Part of me thinks they will to entice sales even more so for those that don't want a 12" tablet but want the Pencil still.

I see. I just tried it on Safari. Only loaded slightly slower. I was still able to navigate smoothly in just a few seconds. How's your internet/wi-fi connection?

I do believe the Pencil will remain a Pro option only.

If you were happy with your Nexus 7 you will be more than happy with a Mini 4. That's the transition that I made. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't hold my breath for Pro features and specs on the Air 3. They have to make sure people have a reason to want the Pro other than just a bigger screen.

It's not laggy but it reminds me more of the iphone 6/6+ in terms of performance. I think the extra ram really helps with web browsing. It's not as instantaneous as my 6S+ but then again I paid 1/3 as much for the Mini 4.

Honestly I like be having mine as a data option out and about. Even taking it to my girlfriend house where sometimes their wifi doesn't work it's very much needed

I've had an Air 2 since launch. I went into the local Apple store in November to look at, and potentially buy, the iPad Pro. However, I walked out with a Mini 4. Reason being the Christmas return period would allow me to return it by Jan 20th 2016 so I could play it off against my Air 2. I've not noticed any performance difference in real-world use despite the Air2 having an extra CPU core etc.

So far so good. Wifey LOVES her iPad mini with cellular. She was sold when she was able to FaceTime me while I was at the Apple Store getting her phone fixed and she didn't have a wifi connection.
