--- Exactly! Give the guy a break! Steve wouldn't areign Tim as his successor if he knows that he would fail that easily. These two guys have been working together for years so both pretty much knows how each other works and how Apple works. Honestly, I'm a little dissapointed of how the iPhone 5 is. It isn't quad core, not a 2GB ram, camera got stuck at 8 megapixel, though have implemented their own maps. They took out the transit part of it. And of course, the NFC thing. It seems like we have to wait for an iPhone 5s to see this to reality or maybe not judging from the iPhone 4/4s.

I'm not saying Tim isn't bad; just that keynotes aren't his forte. Why doesn't Ive introduce iPhones?

You guys put way too much stock in the Keynotes
The average consumer never sees them or cares about them

Geek types on Forums, professional bloggers and investors watch them, analyze them and dissect them to death, while the typical consumer never even notices them

I don't watch the live streams once posted I just follow one of the sites that has the live blog. No one ever is the same as the person they replaced it just doesn't happen that way.

IF there was any disappointment I feel its due to the fact that everything was known before the actual event which was so bizarre compared to last years leaks when the rumors no where near matched the final product.

I think people need to quit expecting Tim to sound like Steve. He's not going to. But neither will anyone else. Take Tim on his own merits. I personally think he comes off as genuine, humble and thrilled to be at Apple.

And I don't think there's as much negativity as you might think over the iPhone 5. I think sales are going to be astronomical.

+1 Agreed!

It seems like to me everyone is building up these ideas of what Tim should be like or what new features the new _____________ should have and of course your going to be disappointed if it does not meet the perfect device you've come up with.

To me part of what made the Orginal iPhone so magical and even the first few versions was because consumers at large did not see it coming so there was no expectation to be met.

Personally I really like Tim's style, its not Steve and thats a good thing no one will ever be Steve as you said! One of the Smartest things Tim did was not try to emulate Steve. It seems clear to me each time Tim is in the Public eye via these media events and such he is getting more comfortable and further developing his own style which is great in my opinion.

I think your also totally right, for as much "negativity" has been around this iPhone launch, I'm reminded of the Oscar Wilde quote "The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about". Seriously though if its as "lack luster" and boring of an update as all the nay sayers claim then why is anyone talking about it at all??

Plenty of companies release new products everyday and yet they don't make national news headlines, they don't have people lining up at stores days in advance, and they don't have so many people pre-ordereing on-line to almost cripple 4 major corporations website operations.

Also as I've seen posted here and many other places, if you don't like it then no one is forcing you to buy it. If people truly did not care wouldn't they just speak with their purchasing decisions? Why waste time on something that you don't care about?

To someone who is new to Apple (or at least the keynotes), I was not left disappointed or unimpressed with it. A little while after the recent keynote I looked up some of Steve Jobs' old keynotes and thought those were great as well. What I'm seeing here is that everyone is acknowledging the fact that Steve was basically a one-of-a-kind speaker, and Tim isn't living up to that. But what people need to realize is that if Steve was so good at all of that and put such a unique spin on things, obviously you're not going to find anyone else like him who can do it like he did. That's just the way it goes. When someone is exceptionaly good at something, you can't expect the next person in line to be just as "good." It doesn't mean that Tim is bad at it; it just means he's different and it's something you need to get over and adjust to.

I also get the feeling that if Tim had gone up on stage and tried way too hard to do it just like Steve would have done, he'd be getting slammed for that, too. I have more admiration for him for just getting up there and doing it as he apparently felt was right for him, and leaving other aspects of the keynote to different people who he knew could/would say it better. He didn't get up there and try to be someone he's not, just to please a bunch of overly critical fans.

And as others have said, the majoriy of people out there have never even watched a keynote and don't care to. They'll still go out and buy the phone simply because they like it; not because they're over-analyzing every show of enthusiasm (or lack thereof) or gesture of Tim Cook.
