I’m actually using a 2nd gen 4k ATV in the living room. Don’t have the 3rd gen one that can do HDR10+. I think I’m going to wait for the event as you said since it’s not that far off from today and see what gets announced.Who knows. But unless you need it now now, the event is not that far off.
But the current one is solid. Heck the 4k first gen is still solid. I doubt we're gonna see some amazing leap in performance or new dongle.
It’s only the 3rd gen model that does HDR10+I’m actually using a first gen 4k ATV in the living room. Don’t have the 2nd gen one that can do HDR10+. I think I’m going to wait for the event as you said since it’s not that far off from today and see what gets announced.
You’re right I got it mixed up. I have the 2nd gen 4k ATV (the one with the metal remote)It’s only the 3rd gen model that does HDR10+
Wait for the announcements, then buy the current model at discount from the refurb’d store.I need an Apple TV for another room, buy current gen 4K Apple tv or wait?
The first gen has several limitations such as no support for 4K on Youtube.i think folks still waiting should buy a used 4k gen 1, dirt cheap on ebay.
then put it to use in a second display once the new model comes out
youtube? then i think you mean faux-KThe first gen has several limitations such as no support for 4K on Youtube.
Well It can do 4KSDR, it’s 4KHDR @60Hz that it cannot do.The first gen has several limitations such as no support for 4K on Youtube.
And who is watching 4K HDR 60hz on YouTube? Spec obsessed who don’t even realize YouTube is heavily processing and bandwidth starving these streams (if they even exist) anyway. For someone who doesn’t even own an AppleTv and is waiting, this is a nothing issue.Well It can do 4KSDR, it’s 4KHDR @60Hz that it cannot do.
Clearly more than you think as there’s plenty of videos available that have had a hell of a lot of views. And who is watching 4K HDR 60hz on YouTube? youtube doesnt segregate view count (or complaints) for 4k 60 hdr version of videos. so im just not sure there is evidence to suggest anything really. other than acknowledging there are some videos that exist.Clearly more than you think as there’s plenty of videos available that have had a hell of a lot of views.
