All iPads Is the new iPad expected to keep the same shape/dimensions?

I would not expect any major changes.
However I also would not expect cases that fit the iPad Air to fit the next iPad.

The key word of my first sentence was "major".
I would be very surprised if the overall shape was exactly the same, such that cases would be interchangeable.
But I would not expect the shape to change that much, ie. large changes in thickness, tapered edges, or planform size.
EDIT: You may be able to bodge a solution, probably by padding with paper/rubber.
If by same shape/dimensions you mean rectangle with 4:3 ratio display, then yes, the new iPad is expected to keep the same shape/dimensions.
If you're asking if current cases will work, my guess is that it will stay the same. Why? Apart from iPad 1, the overall design has stayed the same for 2 generations or so. iPad 2 and new iPad (basically 3 and 4). iPad mini and iPad mini with Retina. Follows the iPhone too. iPhone 3G and 3GS. 4 and 4S. 5 and 5S. I have no idea about the next mini though. It is currently on second generation and the design hasn't changed.

There was barely a change in size between the iPad Mini and the retina iPad Mini (something like less than 1mm difference in thickness), but I personally tried two cases designed for the original mini that didn't fit properly. It may well be the same situation with the next generation of Airs/Minis.
Makes sense, and the iPad Air was only released in Nov 2013, Apple has a history of keeping a design for at least 2 years before major revisions.
Yup that's right. I don't know how this will play out between the Air and mini though. Remember, the mini has kept the same design (slightly different thickness) for 2 years whereas the Air for only 1 year. If Apple wants to keep the design unified between Air and mini, that's where it gets tricky. They have to break the rule for one or the other.
A possible leak on youtube shows the iPad air2 to be thinner compared to the iPad air, together with redesigned speakers and volume controls, but otherwise, everything else is the same.

iPad Air is great, if they can make iPad Air 2 a little thinner, but keep same width/height, that would be awesome. I'm already buying one no matter what it looks like.
