Maya;

They have a CAD program designed to run on a Mac.
It's called Vector Works.
I really hope Autodesk gets into the Mac thing.
I gather it is crash resistant.

PS: My daugthers name is Maya. Very nice name!

Thanks;

Been a long time since I heard anything about "Vector Works", I believe they have now made many targeted versions, Industry, Mechanical, so on...

Crash resistant that is a dream come true. :)

Thanks you, and you have good taste in naming your daughter. :)

I have crashed four times in the past 30 minutes running 10.4.2. I am not sure why, something to do with azureus and the USB modem I am using I think. I am looking to see if anyone else has had similar problems.

I have yet to have a crash :: fingers crossed :: and this is using heavy duty applications. CAD have not used it on my Mac, though have used other 3D applications and have to say the only time it does crash is if there is low system memory other than that have yet to see one off chance if I have ample system memory. :)

The weird thing for me... I have *never* had an OS X crash involving heavy-duty computing, or even moderate-duty computing.... The largest source of OS X crashes I've had involved kernel panics on wakeup or sleep, which in Panther were very, very rare, although I've had a larger number in Tiger (in fact, this is almost the only thing I've had in Tiger). Second after that was a string of lock-ups involving acquiring a WEP airport signal at school, but that was only with one dot release of Panther.

But it always seems to be instability with the IO interface... I don't think I've had a single crash that had anything to do with any heavy duty crunching.

Group;

I hear many people say that the new MAC's operating system is crash proof. Is this really true? Does it ever lock up on you guys? Has it ever crashed on any of you guys? I would like to especially hear from the ones that use a CAD system on a MAC.

Thanks;
Cadkiller

I'm not sure how it does it but the first run DVD of Kaze Ghost Warrior could consistently crash a friends PowerBook running Panther and another friends iBook also running Panther. (Haven't tried it in Tiger yet. Should take it to the Apple store and see what happens. Maybe even horrify the employees ;) and when I say crash I'm talking Kernel Panic every time they tried running it. Weirdest thing he's ever seen. The author must be using some weird formatting or something. *shrugs* :confused:

No OS is technically "crash proof", Unix - the heart Unix, even crashes, but thats just because of faulty everything. Nothing's perfect, but Mac's are most stable than Windoze. I installed WinXP for the 10th time 2 weeks ago and its crashed 5 times so far. I bought this iBook and put tiger on it about 2 months ago and no system crashes or kernel panics. Just a few program crashes (but that was due to it being 3rd party software from never heard of companies (like Adium X, Snes9x)). Other than that, no programs have crashed on me yet.

EDIT: Welcome to the forums, hope your purchase a Mac soon - if you don't have one already. We're always here to help and if you need specific help you can post here or contact me directly.
