Hi

While watching the Keynote yesterday I'm immediately fall in love with the new Series 4 stainless steel. I have a "Series 0" aluminum Apple Watch and this year I want to make the step forward to SS. I especially like the gold SS finish but I immediately thought it was meant for women.

Watching a lot of hands on video I saw that the gold SS seems to be the "flagship" watch for Apple and a lot of Apple employees that shows the new watch to people wear the SS gold finish even if they are men.

So my simple question is: Do you think the new SS gold finish is good looking for men? I want to buy a watch that is good looking in almost all situation (casual outfit or elegant dress) and I'm interested to know your opinion guys.

Thanks

It's actually more masculine looking this one. Especially when paired with the milanese. But you can easily make it more feminine with other straps (see Apple's sport strap with it for example).

Of course anyone can wear it, but to my eye it's slightly better suited to hipster-styled guys than women. Don't mean hipster in a derogatory way, I just mean that fashion style. Retro hair-dos, brown pants, checked shirts etc!

If you like it, buy it. We should not think this is for men and women. Women can wear skirts, women can wear shirts. Some do. Do what you think looks good and don’t be limited by what others think as they could be wrong or thinking in a very backwards way.

There was a similar type of Apple Watch thread where someone asked if rose gold was for ‘women only’. Apple created their colors universally for _any_ gender to wear. It doesn’t matter what someone chooses, it’s all the same.

As a man, I am definitely lusting over the SS Gold. My only hesitation is the price and concern over how it will pair with my existing (and any future) watch bands.

Thanks for your reply. I like the combo SS gold and sport stone band. What do you think?
Well it’s either that or the Milanese loop, right? Which is an extra $100. I like to buy my bands on amazon in the $10-$20 range.

Another consideration.... once we all make up our minds, will we want to switch if *our* chosen model is supply constrained

I'm absolutely convinced now (thanks to you guys) that the SS gold is absolutely ok for any gender like all the other object and colors. I don't want to spend the extra money for the milanese loop but I agree with TJ82 that with the stone band (that i like) the watch become a little more feminine

Normally based on apple's color history I would say yes, but this year it's a more coppery gold and therefore more masculine/neutral. It's a very nice gold, for sure.

Absolutely, the 38 is for chicks only or non-heterosexual males while the 42 is for manly men.
Lol

The OPs question ludicrous st best.

The gold will look great on anyone’s wrist.

Women tend to gravitate to the rose gold and gold tone today because of the pinkish hue.

The S4 is a more traditional unisex gold.

I'm really tempted by the gold stainless. I'd get a 38mm and I'm an average size man in his 40's who usually dresses casually (jeans and button down). It's really the first gold-ish Apple Watch that I've looked at immediately wanted to wear.

The gold looks very very good. Definitely their best gold yet (guy's perspective). If I cared less about space black I would pick up the gold in a heartbeat.

Actually I think it’s more masculine than the aluminum gold for example since that one has some some subtle pink tones. This one on the other hand is more neutral. Of course it depends on how you pair it.

It is definitely their best gold yet. It is subtle and doesn’t look tacky.

I paired it with the stone sport band. If I’m not comfortable with it I will buy a Milanese loop

I updraded my current 1st Gen 42mm SS and purchased the 44mm gold SS without any hesitation. I’ve been eyeing it since the image was “Leaked”. I’ve never owned a gold colored time piece and this one looks great. If you like it, buy it with confidence and don’t look back. It’s not masculine, it’s not feminine. It’s just a nice looking watch. I’ll admit I’m not a fan of the stone colored band so I’ll definitely be looking for another option.
