This reminds me of all of the 'is 38mm watch for women' posts when the watch was new. Some people have serious self-image issues - just wear whatever you like.
Ask Mr T.
Some people wear gold watches and some don’t. I’m a man and wear a gold watch. It’s your choice and shouldn’t matter to anyone.
The Gold Series 4 is the best looking Apple Watch so far IMO.
I’ll be buying the SS 44mm but not the gold colored one. I use the Apple Watch for work and sport only and the gold color doesn’t seem right for my use, mainly because it will get scratched easily within the first day and look terrible. SS watches that get scratched continue to look SS and I’m happy with that.
I updraded my current 1st Gen 42mm SS and purchased the 44mm gold SS without any hesitation. I’ve been eyeing it since the image was “Leaked”. I’ve never owned a gold colored time piece and this one looks great. If you like it, buy it with confidence and don’t look back. It’s not masculine, it’s not feminine. It’s just a nice looking watch. I’ll admit I’m not a fan of the stone colored band so I’ll definitely be looking for another option.
Speaking about SS gold + band combo, in you opinion what could be a good combination (excluding the gold milanese loop)? I think that a blue band could be really good with this watch....
Thanks for your opinion. Looking at the picture I like the stone sport band. I will evaluate the situation better when I see it in my hands: If the combo SS gold + stone band is not good for my I will go for another band.

I’m a woman, but I ordered the 44MM Gold SS with Stone sport band. My logic being that the Milanese can be bought separately, but I doubt they’ll sell the stone with gold as a separate band.
Based on my current collection of AW bands, I predict my leather loops (black, brown, navy, and stone), my sport loops (black and blue...the blue is Nike, I forget the color name), and possibly, a new Milanese (plus any other sport bands) would all look nice with the gold.
To avoid: any band with silver stainless connectors.
I even think the nylon bands with aluminum buckles will be fine, really.
This is what I've been trying to figure out.Do you think the aluminum gold is pretty close in color to the ss?
Every time I see this thread title, all I can think is - what were watches made of before Apple got into the business? Are Rolexes not gold?
I agree with your sentiment, but you have to understand that Apple’s customer demographic skews younger. Most young people have never used a watch, let alone a luxury watch like a Rolex. Many people simply do not understand what the cultural norms are with watches.
Ah, I was wondering what you got! I remember when you got your first SS series 0 watch.I’m a woman, but I ordered the 44MM Gold SS with Stone sport band. My logic being that the Milanese can be bought separately, but I doubt they’ll sell the stone with gold as a separate band.

Or ...you both have really good taste! So, you are a woman and you ordered the exact same watch as me so there are two options: the watch is really unisex or I choose a feminine watch

I’m finally getting the gold shiny watch I have dreamed of since I first ever laid eyes on the original Gold Edition. I’m a bit bummed I’ve got all these bands with clashing silver pieces to them.
I wish I had ordered the gold Milanese one because I remembered (too late) I briefly had a gold sport watch with a band similar to the one on the 40 mm Gold SS sport I ordered.

Lol actually I did end up getting stainless for me and aluminum for my sister in law. But yes, I wanted a bumper! I use a bumper only rarely now, after all. I like aluminum for the lightness of it when I’m exercising. But I can’t resist this gold SS one.Unisex. I don't like really super-girly stuff. I tend to go with platinum, white gold, and stainless. I do like rose gold, but real rose gold, not the pink stuff they used to make the Apple Watch aluminum model.
I think it depends on the band pairings. As in, you can make this one look girly if you want, but it surely won't out of the box unless it's on an actual girl.

I tried on the Rose Gold and the Yellow Gold Edition watches before the first launch. They were REALLY heavy, as I recall, and SO pretty. Both were lovely and I hate bright, yellow gold.
I think this gold is middle of the road, and it'll either look flashy or not depending on the band it is paired with.
I remember your first, too. Aluminum and you wanted a bumper in case you scratched it working in the garden.![]()

I’m keeping a black aluminum series 2 sport watch for exercise. I’m trading in my silver aluminum Nike LTE sport for the gold I’ll be getting. I know I can trust the black watch in the pool. I never pushed my luck with the silver one and now that I’m trading it in I want it in good working order.
I see this thread every time Apple makes a gold or rose gold something. If you like gold get gold.
