Well I don't know if that is a great development or not. Apple dropping PPC now for x86 and then turns around in a few years after that for something all new...it could get messy.

x86 is the future for as long as most businesses can project. Not to say that won't change way down the road, but I would hate to see Apple start platform hopping like no tomorrow...loosing your footing in the market is not good.
the article i read (once again, really wish i could find the damn thing) said that x86 was the future on most business' roadmaps because Microsoft wouldn't support a change. I do agree with you though that another chip architecture change would be a pain in the butt, but i does need to happen eventually, because x86 really can't get that much faster without mulitple cores and other chip features.

Steve said that they have some great PowerPC products lined up. I don't think those were his exact words, but that's the gist of it. So no, I don't think it's dead yet.

You know, they have must and have to have big things coming up, before Intel next year or else how will they sell anything in the next 12 months.

I think it will be new G4's in the laptops and new G5's across the board. So this is very exciting because we now know that great stuff is coming really soon like DC G4's.
