The ipsw file is generic as long as it's for the appropriate model / device. I.E. if you're unlocking three first-gen (EDGE) iPhones and you want the same settings on each, you can use the same ipsw three times. But you can't use the same ipsw on an EDGE iPhone and an iPod touch, for example....If I created a custom ipsw on pwnage tool for my iphone, can I use the same custom ipsw for another iphone or do I need to rebuild it each time with the iphone that I want to unlock plugged into the computer?
There are some out there, but it is technically illegal to do that. Plus the pwnage tool is not particularly hard to use. And in essence, pwnage creates a trojan horse -- that's what that ipsw file is. So I would exercise some caution in going to a pirating website and intentionally downloading a trojan horse, you know? Might as well just make the file yourself.awesome, thanks. i was just wondering cuz i figured that someone would have already posted custom ipsw files for each model if it works that way.
