From the picture I've seen and the event video, the space grey seems darker than the space grey of my iphone 6 and ipad air 2...would they actually make it a different color??

Never thought about Space Gray being an oxymoron until you pointed it out.:D

Well when I first saw Space Gray on Apple devices, I immediately thought it was meant to resemble the color of the moon/lunar rock. So I think the name Space Gray works.

In regards to the Apple Watch, I think the Space Gray looks darker than the color on my iPhone 6 or recent iPods/iPads. To me, it looks closer to the black aluminum color that was on my iPhone 5.

The hands on gallery from Engadget back in September provides views of the color in multiple different lights.

A little OT: Moon regolith is actually black as charcoal but the sun is so bright that even the small amount of light that is reflected causes it to 'shine'.

Reference: heard on a Star Talk podcast (Neil deGrasse Tyson).

The pictures on the website look darker than my 6. But the 6 on the website also looks darker than it does in real life. I'm waiting to see it in person.

Strange but to me the new Mac Book Space Gray looks almost Silver in the pics. Apple really should darken up the Space Gray to a near black anodized finish IMO.

We used to have that on the iPhone 5. They ditched Slate for Space Gray on the 5s and later because of poor long term durability (anodized coating wearing off exposing the silver underneath). I'm hoping they'll bring back Slate and use stronger anodization.

However, Space Gray on the Watch does look darker compared to that found on iPhone in real life photos.

I wonder if some of what they're doing with the aluminum watch will eventually come to iPhones. Why not, unless it's too costly.

apple watch is space black you idiots

Now who are you calling an idiot?:D

The iPhone 6/6 Plus space grey is too light, I'm honestly disappointed by that because I prefer the darker version (the slate from the iPhone 5 and the iPad mini is best in my mind but the space grey on the iPhone 5S wasn't that bad). It just looks silver to me.

Judging from the pictures the Apple watch won't be this way, I'm hoping in real life that's true.
