Playing poker last night my mate who is a high flying corporate exec was wearing a Fitbit Surge. I've never seen one on a wrist before and I asked him if he wore it all the time including exec meetings. He said he did. It looked ugly, it seemed to pop from his wrist and looked quite tacky and cheap even though in the pics they look quite nice. It made me think about my :apple:Sport SG pre-order and how it may actually look cheap as well.
Anyone tried both the Fitbit Surge and :apple: Watch Sport with Black band?

Tried the Apple Watch Sport today in SG and it felt cheap, too. Doubt I'll wear it into the office.

the Watch itself looks good; the band will look as cheap as the Surge though

I saw my first fitbit surge on the guy next to me on the airplane this past Sunday. Honestly, I didn't think it looked bad; to each his own. Sure it's not exactly a "classy" piece, like one would want to wear to impress, but that's not what I'm wanting. Maybe eventually I will, but I've never been that way.

Actually I had just seen the space grey watch a few hours before I saw the fitbit surge, and although I never really thought about it, there is definitely a level of similarity there.

The sport is more like "fitness tracker" quality while the SS watch is a more elegant watch.

I tried the SS and SG sports in the store, but the SS looked pretty cheap by comparison. Ordered SG one instead

My husband and I tried the Fitbit Surge. It had decent functionality as far as fitness tracking goes, but it's UGLY. Having seen the photos of people wearing the AW Sport, it looks NOTHING like it. Yes the Sport band makes the AW Sport look more like a fitness device than a fancy smart watch, but it still looks way better than the Surge. Will I be getting additional bands for when I want to dress it up? Absolutely. But that's an option you don't have with the Surge.

I took my partner, who is not that interested in the watch, to try them on. He saw the space grey sport and thought it was the ss black. I knew which was which, but I'm also happy with having ordered the space grey. If you are getting the 42, I recommend you get a darker leather loop for it. I'm getting a 38, and I plan to try it with the classic buckle. With the right band, it won't look like a fitness tracker. I know tastes differ, but we both think the space grey looks just fine, and we liked it better than the silver aluminum or the stainless steel.

I owned the Surge and sold it to be ready for the Apple Watch. The Sport looks 100x better than the Surge! The Surge looks like a fitness tracker, nothing more. The black band is rubber-like, but it looks nice, too. With the Click attachment and bands from the Kickstarter project...it will look classy IMO.

Sounds like a comment from somebody who couldn't afford the Stainless Steel. Seriously? The stainless steel looked and felt cheaper than the sport? Which planet are you on?

right I cannot afford, thats why Im getting a first wave one from ebay

The Surge is hideous compared to the Apple Watch. It's really tall on the wrist, so unless you wrist is 80mm wide, it will look more like a court-ordered tracking device than a watch. Combine this with the huge black bezel (the actual screen size is small) and it adds up to ugly.

Well it seems that the band is what will make the SG Sport stand out and stand apart from the Surge. I guess for those of us that have pre-ordered blind we should be able to walk in to an :apple:store and try on and buy a new band?
