Looking at the 9to5mac hands on video, I noticed the stainless steel frame on the space gray iPhone is darker than the frame on the silver one

It got me wondering if it’s the same colour as the space black Apple Watch..since it’s also stainless steel...

That’s exactly how I see it, OP. This is why I ordered the silver model, because it appears to have a true stainless steel frame. :)

I prefer space black over the true stainless steel colour...I was eying a space black Apple Watch, now if it’s it actually is the same, I’m going to buy it..just so it matches lol

For the space gray finish, we use a process called physical vapor deposition to precisely match the color of the stainless steel band to that of the glass. So ya its gray while the sliver is the color of stainless

Hmmm didn’t know that

Dormer? :p

I think the Space Gray color does the best job of making the iPhone the most immersive and blends in with the camera very well. The band is darker, ionized stainless steel.

The bands on the space gray iPhone X seem to resemble more of a lighter shade of black, where as the space black Apple Watch stainless is a much darker, glossy black.

Here is my space black Apple Watch for comparison:

Just gonna leave this here

The silver and the white in this photo reminds of a bathroom fixture. Like the faucet (the shiny stainless steel band) on a bathtub (the back face).

I think this photo is a little unfair. If the phones switched places, the Apple logo and text would probably be more pronounced than in photos. I just care if it looks better in person than in photos.

iPhone x is grey
Apple watch is black, except Aluminum thats grey also

I'm not sure why you're quoting me on this, when I Clearly stated the Apple Watch is Space black and the iPhone X is Space gray. I was indicating the bands on the X appear more of a muted tone of a black versus "Gray". I also posted pictures for reference.

But the x isn’t supposed to have any regulatory info printed on it.
depends on what country you're from. the pic is from the keynote, so those are US devices without the print. it only says iphone. EU phones will have more stuff printed on them

what? lol

Only FCC allows some 'electronic' regulatory printing. EU does not.

Because Apple from Cupertino CA USA... would be showing anything other than the American version? Not to mention how proud they were about the fact the iPhone didn't need all that info on the phone?

Because it is, it’s basically the same size as the regular iPhone. That’s also what makes it so appealing to me. Best power iPhone offers in a modern design. No more brick, thank goodness.

Yep, failed to do my homework and realize that the keyboard will be too small for my tastes.

You might like but I prefer the + size iPhone and my 8+ just got a reprieve.

Yes it's almost the same color, if not the same as the iwatch. I've owned both watches...the SS and the black and I doubt apple went out and brought in brand new material for the X....Looks to be very much the same.

The difference is simple...

The silver model has a mirrored finish SS band around it...very nice out of the box but will be a finger print fest and honestly show a great deal of scratches. Some say they will polish it out but I'm not a fan of putting a polishing agent anywhere near an electric device...just my opinion as far as polishing goes.

The space gray band is much darker and in terms of maintenance is a non event IMO. like I said i've owned both Apple watches and have seen the pros and cons of both. Apple is saying that it's an oxidized metal with some special process, blah, blah, blah....It's blackish metal guys and yes it can scratch if pushed to the test but in my experience holds up much better than the mirrored finish on the SS material.
