Is the US Cellular iPhone 5S internationally unlocked ?

Hi! I friend of mine from India wants to take a Gold iPhone 5S when she's flying back to India this holiday season for her mom. She found a seller on Craigslist who has an iPhone 5S which is activated on US Cellular. My question is would this phone work overseas if the local carrier in that country supports the bands ? I know it is locked from being used on US carriers but is it internationally unlocked ?

Any info on this would help my friend. Thanks!

According to other threads on here, yes the US cellular is internationally unlocked.

Okay, I bought a US cellular iPhone5s on ebay, and I inserted my local Singapore gsm sim card, and it says the sim card is not valid.So the phone is not international unlocked. It is locked to USC carrier and can not be unlocked. Do not buy for it for international use.

NO, all US Cellular iPhone 5 and 5S are locked to US cellular only. They will not work without a USCC sim.

To check if your phone is unlocked, do a restore as new (not restore backup) in iTunes, after the phone activates it will say "Congratulations your phone is unlocked".

If you bought it unsubsidized, they have to agree to unlock it.

If you are asking if the phone is already unlocked for international use but not domestically, the only way to check is to put in an international SIM. If it doesn't work then it is locked to only US cellular (which is what one poster already tried). At that point you will have to contact US cellular and ask them what their policies are for international unlock.

The USC iPhone is locked to USC itself, I have inserted the international sim cards, I am living in Singapore, I have used the sim card in Verizon, and it is ok, but when I tried to use it with USC iPhone5s, and it said the sim card is not valid, like Sprint iPhone does. So I have the evidence to show that the phone is locked, and it was also internationally locked

Must have bought a Sprint one, true USCC iPhones are already unlocked out of the box for outside the U.S.
