Well, in the past week or so I've noticed the weather widget on Tiger and Leopard no longer loads anything... I was hoping it was an error at first but it's been at least two weeks and has still not worked since.. This sucks, as it doesn't work on Mojave on my Mac Pro either. And if you didn't know Catalina doesn't even have dashboard anymore.

I use PowerPC macs a lot, and the dashboard weather widget was frequently used.

Just confirmed it no longer shows any info in 10.5.8 on my end either.

Either Apple used the exact same weather widget from 10.4 to 10.14 with its own built-in address, or there's probably some kind of alterable configuration file in the OS pointing it to a now bad URL. - But good luck changing it in 10.11+, thanks to the forced menace known as System Integrity "Protection" ...

I suspect this to be AccuWeather's fault, but it's also possible we can thank Apple if they had some kind of middle-man technique they used to reroute requests to AccuWeather that they later broke or disabled.

If it's already been two weeks, I don't expect it to receive an official fix.

I just discovered this today when I fired up my iBook running Tiger. It's been a long time coming, unfortunately.

It hasn't been working in Intel OS X for a while, but was fine in Tiger and Leopard until a month or so ago :(

I can't find any weather app that works for PPC any more ;)

Cheers :)

I remember this was issued before and remembering @eyoungren answered about it.
That might have been in relation to Widescape Weather, which is (was) a Yahoo Widget. Yahoo Widgets (Konfabulator) are different than Dashboard widgets. Currently. the only one remaining that works (that I use) is Werewolf Monitor (a moon phase widget).

In the case of Widescape Weather, the reason it stopped working is that the 'free' weather service it used was sold and the new company placed those features behind a paywall - thus breaking the functionality of the widget.

Hi, hope I'm not being annoying, but I wanted to pop in to say I've been working over the past week to adjust the weather widget's code to use the DarkSky API, so it can work again.

Please let me know if it works on 10.4 – 10.5. It should, but it's possible I inadvertently used overly-new Javascript (in which case, I'd like to fix it).

@Wowfunhappy This is awesome! But I don't know how would you annoy someone with this.
I think I can speak for everyone here on that part of the forum that these kind of initiatives are more then welcome around here.

Uh, I guess I felt a bit like I was self-promoting is all. I don't want to be that person who goes into a bunch of threads to post about the same thing.

Glad you like it. :D

The Fair Weather widget app (available through app store) works on Tiger PPC through Mojave. Oddly, the original PPC Tiger weather widget is still contacting Accuweather according to Little Snitch. The Fair Weather widget uses NOAA information.
