Is the white iphone ugly?

After a few months that white won't look so clean.
Maybe around where you live. But where I live now, Canada, and where I was from, Southern California, lots of straight guys have white iPhones, including myself. Attracts girls too, all the girls I work with oogle at my phone because they all think it's more attractive than black. I only know of 1 person that doesn't like white, and she is the one person I wouldn't go to for style advice (No offense to her.)

I have nothing against the white iPhone, I think it looks great, but it shows dirt so much easier. I would imagine after a few months it would start to lose its perfect white.
It does show dirt easier, I'm not gonna argue that. But for me, dirt is easier to clean than wiping off smudges and stuff, which is what I hate about the black iPhone.
And I don't think it will lose the white, or at least not nearly as much as the white macbooks did, since it looks like there is a clear coat on the iPhone before it gets to the actual color...instead of the "matte" white the macbooks and the Apple keyboards have.
I like the white but perhaps you could get a different case for it that they dont have? Either way i like the White better.
My phone is on a case 24/7 so I really couldn't care less about "smudges". Some people take the smudge thing WAY to seriously and it's not that serious. And I think the black looks good when it's in a case too. AND the chrome looks WAY better on black than it does on white.
I haven't been getting as many smudges as I expected, this being my first iPhone I had no idea what to expect, but I do baby it a lot. I thought for sure white would be bad to get because of showing dirt/ losing the white it has, but now I realize it all depends on how it's taken care of. Someone who takes good care or has a case on it will keep it clean/white vs someone who doesn't take use a case and is careless.

Hahaha really? So far I'm seeing way more white lovers. And I bet that there are WAY more black 3GSs out there in white than in black. Now that the cheapest iPhone does come in black and white, a lot of people are going to go with the white because there are "less people with it" and then you end up with everyone with a white iPhones before you know it lol.

Yup, and since A LOT of people are going from an 8gig 3G (black) to a 3GS they want to have a change.
I liked and miss my white 3G. I gave my original silver iPhone to my mom, and my white 3G to my sister, and so to avoid the hassle of who's phone is who's, I went black. but the more I think about it, I spend all day looking at the screen and apps, not the case, so I got used to it.
white is great, stands out. I feel average now.
I think the white one looks nicer than the black one. Back when the iPod 5G came out and people were flocking to the black one I ended up getting a white one since I just thought it looked better. I've had too many black or otherwise dark-coloured electronics so something a bit lighter in colour is a nice change. Besides, it matches every other Apple item I've had.
As for the poster who commented that it's mainly women and gay guys that have the white iPhone, that may be true to some extent. I will say that out of the gay guys I know that have iPhones, the white one seems to be as prevalent as the black one while in general I see many more black iPhones than white ones. But these same guys are usually Mac owners too, which may subconsciously (or not) drive them towards the white iPhone since it's a more "Mac-like" colour. It certainly is an influence on me.
What I think would be more interesting is to see if there is a corollation between Mac ownership and iPhone colour preference. I'm betting that there is a higher percentage of white iPhones among Mac owners than among PC owners.

I have a white suit,white belt,white bucks so I figured I had to get a white iPhone I'm a straight male don't generalize that only gay men/women have white iPhones.

I am getting my first iPhone when it come back in stock here in the UK.
I have been a PC user for 8 years and I will be going white (I'm a bloke). It does stand out more. But the point you make could be a good one.
I'd now like to see a poll as a follow up to this thread to see which colour is more popular. ie. Do you own a black or white iPhone?
And anybody categorising the white iphone to women/gay men, needs to sort their life out, quickly before it's too late.
