Safari because it has the best JavaScript performance and is therefore faster. I use Chrome only when I want to open a webpage that I have open on my computer on my iPad or iPhone.

Ok....in the time since I wrote my first reply and now, I've found a browser I'd never heard of before, and so far at least, it's really good, with some really unique features...it's called Grazing. Best thing is the gesture support, which is way cooler than how Dolphin does it. Slide your thumb in from the side and this circle of options appears, allowing quick gestures back and forward, closing tabs, new tabs, etc. You can swipe between tabs, you can swipe up from the bottom to go to the search bar/address bar, etc. And these are all customizable. I've only used it for a few hours, but it looks awesome!

I mainly use Safari. However, I really don't understand why it doesn't have 3 finger swipe forwards and backwards like on the Macbook trackpad. Seems like a no brainer to me, as reaching the little "back" icon on the top left of the screen is not terribly convenient when browsing. Do any other browsers support this?

I use Safaria most of the time. But there are a couple things I wish Safaria allowed me to do. Like having the option to go to the desktop site instead of the Mobile version.

When I need the full site I go to my Chrome app and it works great. I actually use that feature often.

I also wish Safaria had a single search bar like its desktop big brother. But that's just personal taste. No big deal.

I actually like the look of Safaria better. I tend to not like the black blank space to the right of the tabs on Chrome. But agains that's just personal taste. No big deal.

I think it's called Safari.

There are lots of pluses and minuses to the iPad browsers.

My favorite browser is Dolphin, though I'm not using it right now because the latest update has a bug which causes it to crash on one of my more visited sites (The Verge). However, I love the ease of which you access bookmarks, the minimal browsing bar, the unified URL and search bar, the quickness of changing settings, etc. It's the most intuitive to use and the fastest to access quick sites.

Right now I'm using Safari until Dolphin updates and fixes that little bug, because it's got quick access to bookmarks via the bookmark bar, plus good tab management (though I hate Safari's multi-page look on the phone, so it's my least favorite phone browser, but it's good on the iPad.) Down sides to Safari are the fact that it often reloads tabs spontaneously, which will often wipe out things I've typed in one tab, and the fact it doesn't have a unified search bar.

Chrome is good, minimal, fast and has good tabs and a unified search bar. However, I just can't use it as my daily driver because I HATE how bookmarks are managed. It is a minimum of two taps to access my bookmarks, plus a third tap to go to it. I quickly get frustrated since I'm used to just swiping from the left to access all my bookmarks in Dolphin.

Completely agree with you on all of your points. Dolphin is by far my favorite browser, and is much better than Chrome, IMO. I'm downloading Graze as we speak based off of your recommendation. I'll let you know how I like it. I'm surprised no one else has mentioned Dolphin other than you and I. It's an excellent browser.

EDIT: Just used Graze and theres one dealbreaker... It's not updated for the iPhone 5. :( Once they update it I'll test it out.

I still prefer Dolphin on the iPhone, as Grazing doesn't have the cool slide pad on the iPhone version, but the iPad version is flipping awesome.

I just realized I typed Graze, when I meant Grazing...now I see that Graze is a browser too. FTR, GRAZING is the one with the awesome gestures and such. And it is updated for the 5.

Here's a screenshot of the slide pad for Grazing...slide in from the right, and this appears around your thumb...

Ahh, I see. Well, I'll check it out anyhow lol.

i use chrome

not because the ipad version is better than safari, but because it syncs bookmarks and such, with my pc's chrome.
and the safari windows version is horrible compared to chrome on pc :)

You can easily sync your PC's Chrome bookmarks with your iPad's Safari by exporting your Chrome bookmarks and importing them to your PC's Safari. Then tell iTunes to sync your iPad with your PC's Safari. It is the only reason I have Safari on my PC.

Safari is perfect for me for some reasons….

iCloud Tab - when I am retired from MBP and I can use my iPad with iCloud on my bed so I won't miss anything.
Share - to Facebook, Twitter, eMail, and iMessage.

and Safari is fast. :apple:

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Safari do all these things already?

Many people prefer to use Chrome as their desktop browser. Also, there are many platforms in which Safari isn't available and Chrome is (e.g. Android and Ubuntu)

I've been using the paid version of Mercury Browser. Within the settings you can increase the font size for individual websites. For example I chose to increase the font for MacRumors to 150% and it retains that setting whenever I return to the site. However for Amazon's homepage, increasing the font doesn't work. It just pushes everything on the page to the far left leaving blank space on the right.

On my Mac I use Chrome, but on my iPad I always go back to Safari.

THIS!!!

On my iPad 3 chrome lags if I scroll too fast, not good. Safari screams on my iPad 3.

However, I've been using Chrome more and more on my new iPad Mini as it doesn't seem to lag like the iPad 3.

I prefer the bookmark bar on safari, however, chrome's bookmark situation isn't ideal for iOS.

Mercury browser for me. The gestures are one of the better features that's done really well. I used to use Dolphin browser but got annoyed that I have to press a button to bring up the gesture menu. Is that still the case? Someone also mentioned the ability to zoom in on a web page- very useful with the Mini.

Itunes to Import Safari Bookmarks

You can easily sync your PC's Chrome bookmarks with your iPad's Safari by exporting your Chrome bookmarks and importing them to your PC's Safari. Then tell iTunes to sync your iPad with your PC's Safari. It is the only reason I have Safari on my PC.

Latest Itunes won't do a direct import. And the iCloud bookmark feature is not working for me. Like you, I'm a PC user who only has Safari for the PC bookmark-to-iPad sync.

Any suggestions?
