Is there a clean way to play mkv video with QuickTime?

I installed Perian, then I cannot play any mkv video with QuickTime. I know there is VLC that does that, but I would prefer QuickTime also to have thumbnails in Finder. Please could someone gave some guidelines? thanks in advance

Perian used to work fine. But it's got some issues with Lion. Hopefully they'll be sorted soon though. Then we can all move back to doing things the simple way.
