Is there a clean way to play mkv video with QuickTime?

I installed Perian, then I cannot play any mkv video with QuickTime. I know there is VLC that does that, but I would prefer QuickTime also to have thumbnails in Finder. Please could someone gave some guidelines? thanks in advance

Perian used to work fine. But it's got some issues with Lion. 🙁 Hopefully they'll be sorted soon though. Then we can all move back to doing things the simple way.
