I have a Lightning to USB-C adaptor that works just for headphones / audio but not charging or CarPlay. A standard USB-A to USB-C cable works for CarPlay but my wife and I share the van and she's on an iPhone 13 mini. The idea would be to just have the standard Lightning cable plugged in and have a ready adaptor when the iPhone 15 Pro needs to plug in. Another possibility would be to have a USB-C cable that has a USB-C female to Lightning Male adaptor that also does the CarPlay trick.

If anyone has explored this or any work-arounds I'd appreciate your feedback.

RollingSquare InCharge cables are worth a look. The quality is excellent in my experience, the charging speeds are great, the data transfer speeds are not as good but should be fine for CarPlay. I've not tested it though, but it might be worth some research as it gives you what you're looking for in a single cable.

I use this cable from Anker

Anker PowerLine II 3-in-1 Cable, Lightning/Type C/Micro USB Cable for iPhone, iPad, HTC, LG, Samsung Galaxy, Sony Xperia, Android Smartphones, and More(3ft / 0.9m) https://amzn.eu/d/5nkd5M4

That looks like it may work, any chance you tested the USB -> Lightning -> USB-C to iPhone 15 specifically with CarPlay? Its that last jump from Lightning to USB-C that seems hit or miss.

Both the lightning and usb-c plugs into the default micro port . So you would have to swap each time you change between lightning and usb-c. CarPlay works with lightning and usb-c as my wife has iPhone 13z

Either a multi cable with lightning and USB-C to USB-A that supports 480Mbps thru-put (harder to find; may not support full thru-put)

Or find a USB-C to lightning adapter for your USB-C to USB-A.

Route two would be the best but I would make sure to use a good adapter to ensure you have the connections necessary for CarPlay. The Apple one states it supports it but be wary of third party adapters. I speak from recent experience.
