Because Apple Intelligence is built into the OS how do we know what’s Apple Intelligence and what’s not? For instance the iOS 18 page on Apple’s website mentions new writing tools and Genmoji. Are those not Apple Intelligence and they’ll be available on any device that supports iOS 18? Or do devices that support Apple Intelligence get better versions of those features? Is mail sorting emails into categories an Apple Intelligence feature or do non-supported devices still get this feature but it’s a machine learning version that’s not quite as good? Are there specific UI elements that will only surface on supported devices? I assume Siri is one and on non-supported devices Siri will look just like it does today (except for the new icon)? Will it be obvious to users of non-supported devices that certain features/functionality is missing or will it be more subtle? I still have many questions as to how Apple Intelligence will work in practice and surface itself to users.
